Pocket battle Games, so far....

Spotlight Article Graphic

Looking for small games "...complicated enough not to be able to figure out the ultimate 'win all the time' game plan strategy within a few plays..."? Angry Bunny offers some thoughts on the pocket battle games offered by LPS and High Flying Dice Games over the years. Small perhaps, yet, in the view of designer Paul Rohrbaugh, "…it is harder to design these pocket games to be as true to history and fun, than it is to design a larger game."

Berthier Campaign Manager v9.9 (Free Software)

Updated version 9.9 of Tony De Lyall's "Berthier Campaign Manager" software, a Windows program that manages war game campaigns for miniatures. This a big change to the way Berthier looks. Maps now can display textures to designate different types of terrain instead of just plain flat colours. See the attached screenshots for examples of how terrain can look. You can create new textures and delete textures. See the file "Creating Berthier Terrain Textures Files.pdf" in the Berthier package for more details. The update involved quite a bit of coding changes in Berthier so just to be safe I’d advise you BACKUP YOUR CURRENT BERTHIER INSTALLATION before installing the new version... There have been a few other changes as well. See the README file in the download for the full details.

Berthier Campaign Manager Software v9.3 Update

Berthier Campaign Manager v9.3 is the latest version of a Windows program that manages wargames campaigns for miniatures. Berthier allows two campaigners, without an umpire, to run simple strategic campaigns leading to tabletop battles. Alternatively umpires can use Berthier to run two sided campaigns. Berthier is a generic campaign engine that is suitable for historical, naval or fantasy wargaming in most periods but was developed with the Horse and Musket period in mind.
