Wargaming-related email: Consim-L and other mailing lists

Rather than contact individuals, the best way to stay in touch with what is going on in wargaming is to join a mailing list, a group of people who all want to talk about one topic. Some wargames have their own mailing lists. IMPORTANT: whichever mailing list or lists you subscribe to save the initial 'Welcome' message. It ought to tell you how to unsubscribe from the list and what address to use for postings.

It is generally acceptable to buy and sell and auction wargames via appropriate mailing lists, as long as certain guidelines (guidelines#1, guidelines#2 (for use with Ebay), guidelines#3) are followed.

Email can also to used to play wargames on the Internet.

USENET and web-conferencing offer other ways of discussing wargaming via the Internet.

Wargaming-related email: Consim-L

The Consim-L (conflict simulation games) mailing list is for wargaming in general. To subscribe go to http://mailman.halisp.net/mailman/listinfo/consim-l. This page also details how to post to Consim-L

The list adminstrator is Alan Poulter. The original adminstrators of Consim-L were Erik Lawaetz and Hjalmar Gerber. A short history and an archive of Consim-L are available.

A detailed survey of Consim-L subscribers was carried out. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd? NYC Consim Dinners, 1st DC Consim Dinner, 1st SF Bay Consim Dinner and the First Annual Canadian ConSim Salmon(less) Retreat were informal get togethers for subscribers.

Another general mailing list, SFConsim-L, is just for conflict simulation games in a science fictional setting. To subscribe go to http://www.onelist.com/viewarchive.cgi?listname=sfconsim-l and click on the subscription option. You will be asked to create a username and password. SFConsim-L has both a Charter and FAQ which should be read before posting.
