VASSAL Module for Waterloo

Here is a module at the VASSAL web site for Avalon Hill’s Waterloo. There are 3 versions, each with different artwork. VASSAL is a game engine for building and playing online adaptations of board games and card games. A growing list of game Modules is available at the web site and at web sites for some game publishers. Players can play solitaire off-line, play live on the Internet or play by email. Vassal runs on all platforms, and is free, open-source software.

Comrade Wargame (Avalon Hill’s Stalingrad)

From a most unusual web site, Gideon Marcus posts a review from 1963(?!) that discusses Stalingrad from Avalon Hill and some comparisons to their Waterloo game. Marcus provides a short description and notes the game’s innovations including rules for replacements, weather, rail transportation, and supply (all new at the time). The review includes a play through of his victory for the Germans and several interesting comments from readers.
