Editorial Since the last issue we have had our Annual General Meeting. While I was hoping the secretrary would bestir himself sufficiently to write a report about what happened at the meeting it seems not to be. The major items which came out of the meeting was a change of leadership, with Stan finishing his reign as Chairman and Keith being elected to take his place. While Keith as suggested this is in reality a "Group North Takeover Plot" we know in reality that unlike other clubs we don't care if our members are also members of other societies because we know we are the best in South Australia. In addition, the club has made an addition to its code of conduct regarding the use of sexist language. It is now prohibited within the club rooms and should not be tolerated anywhere. We have though, recieved one protest letter against this move we have have reproduced here for the interest of wargamers. While its an eloquent rebuttal of the idea of Politically Correct Speech in general it fails to, in my opinion anyway, grasp that we have not yet gone very far down that road nor intend to either. Gauntlet has now gone online. After concluding an agreement with Joseph Boeke in the United States, copies of Guantlet will from now be lodged electronically at his site. They can be accessed (along with lots of other really nice wargaming stuff) via anonymous FTP at the address ftp.uadv.uci.edu, in the directory \gronard\zines. Unfortunately though, due to the limitations of the medium, these copies are only plain ASCII files at the moment and do not feature any illustrations. As Jeff has noted in his Campiagn Co-ordinator's report, the club moves from strength to strength with regards to the quantity and quality of the campiagns being presented. However, this is not being reflected in the magazine. This issue is the lightest thus far under my editorship. We were only saved by contributions from non-club members. This is not something I would like to see repeated. So, if you want the magazine to continue to be of a high standard, its up to you as members to make contributions. If you're read a good book lately, then write a short review of it. If you've played a great game lately, then write a short article about it. If you've run a campiagn, write it up. If you have a particular interest in a certain topic which would be interesting to other members, write it up. Its not hard but please do it. CONTRIBUTIONS All contributions to Gauntlet are gratefully accepted. Preferred method is via computer disk. Most popular brands of Word Processors can be accepted (as can disk size) with the exception of Amiga (and even that can be overcome with a little work and a couple of modems). Contributions can be made by either handing it to me directly the next time you see me at the club, posting it to our post office box, handing it to another committee member, putting it behind the bar, pinning it to a notice board and also via email. My AARNet email addresses are: brian@coombs.anu.edu.au. gebr@cc.flinders.edu.au SO THERE ARE NO EXCUSES WHY YOU CANNOT MAKE THE NEXT....
