Kadesh [Command #7] =================== Terrain Effects Chart. In multi-hex battles with defending units in different terrain types, the defender may use the terrain type which benefits him most. To receive the benefits for hexside terrain, all attacking units must be attacking across hexsides containing that terrain. Terrain Key (on the map). The ford symbol is displayed with the river symbol, not the stream. 2.8 Unit Types (clarification). Archers are all foot troops with figures shooting a bow. The chariot runner figure is a soldier running with a spear held overhead. Light infantry are all running infantry figures. Heavy infantry are the standing figures. 2.13 Leader Counters. Ignore the Initiative rating on the front of the leader counters (it's a relic from an excised rule). 6.1 Division Organization (addition). The Medjay Police do not belong to any division - they are considered auxiliary infantry for all purposes. Note that the Hittite (and allied) light infantry have divisional affiliations. This is for set-up purposes only. Auxiliary and light infantry are not subject to command control and receive no benefits from command control - they may not use march mode unless commanded by their king. They are never considered out of command so do not add one to rally die rolls. 6.5 Division Leader Mode. Combat Mode (clarification). Units starting the movement phase in command must end the movement phase in command. They need not be in command in every hex they enter during movement. March Mode (clarification). A unit [remains] in march mode as long as its leader is in march mode. The leader's mode can change only during the owning player's leadership phase or as a result of combat. A unit in march mode which is involved in a chariot pass-through attack is still in march mode in the following combat phase (unless it is routed or destroyed). 8.5 Chariot Runners (Clarification). A chariot unit and its chariot runner may combine their missile combat strengths for defensive fire. Combat result[s] against chariots and runners are applied to each, not just to one or the other. 9.10 Defensive Fire (addition). No defensive fire may be made against chariot pass-through attacks. Units in march mode may not conduct defensive fire. 9.12 Slaughter (addition). To be subject to slaughter, a routed unit must be alone in a hex or stacked only with other routed units. If any other unit is in the hex, it must be attacked normally and the routed unit(s) in the hex are not subject to slaughter. (Change). The fifth sentence should read "Subtract one from the die roll if the attacking unit is a chariot unit." Example 5, page 8 (change). Unit 3 should be disrupted, and the accompanying text should state that it can be passed through because it is disrupted, not shaken. 11.3 Eligible Enemy Units (clarification). Per 3.1, "Egyptian" Auxiliary units includes all Egyptian allies; "hittite" Light infantry includes Hittite allies. 12.4 Further Retreats (change). Change the second paragraph to read: "Any unit retreating from a chariot pass-through attack which is forced to retreat due to another chariot pass-through attack suffers no further effects for the second retreat." 15.3 Rout of Units in Holding Box (clarification). The morale checks for Egyptian units in the holding box must be made each time an Egyptian unit in the camp is forced to retreat.
