"A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." Unofficial Consolidated WaR Rules Hi, As I've mentioned on this forum I've been working on updating the WaRII rules to include the following: # Combine the two rulebooks into one, merging sections from the game-specific rules into the main body of rules; # Integrate the errata that prefixed the rules into the body; # Bring the rules up to date with all the errata posted to this folder after DG's last release of the rules set (all 1878 posts); # Edit the rules to make them more coherent. # Lay them out in a more readable format. Why did I do this? It started as an effort to simply merge the errata into the rules for my own use. However, as I got into doing that task I came to believe that the rules could be presented better than they were - better organized and more complete. I think WaRII is a great game and I think that a more accessible rules set would open the game to more play; too many people posted here saying they had shelved the game. So I wanted to try my hand at achieving this goal, and what you see here is the result. Along the way Joe White graciously complied with my request to update his charts & tables set. There were very few changes to make; the most noticeable are the inclusion of the few remaining charts that weren't originally included. So I include here pdfs of the updated rules set and Joe's charts (version 1.3.2). The rules set does not, unfortunately, include an graphically-presented Please note that these are not official. Joe Y. has seen an earlier draft; I expect he has not read it closely. But neither has he said not to post them. It must be noted that I made some very minor changes, and one largish one, to the rules in order to simply things a tad. These are: # (Large) I removed random events. They were very uncommon and, more to the point, it was difficult to write rules for a number of them. # I introduced an OCS-like standard rounding rule. All the various "round up" and "round down" clauses made my head hurt. # Some others that will become evident as the rules are read. Again, this was not "approved" by Joe Y. and should these rules ever see the light of day "officially", some or all of these decisions might be reversed - it's Joe's game, not mine. So here they are. Enjoy! Please send feedback (good and bad). I intend to update them to reflect my experience with them and that of others as well. Look here for updates. Finally, I intend to produce some very simple play-aids (tracks and the like) to replace those supplied with the game which, sadly, are lacking.
