Author: Kim Meints This is an updated version of the old Nato(SPI 1973) scenario by Phil Kosnett from Moves #27 fitted to the new G-Sof-G game. The Soviets control ALL hexes to the East of the Weser (North Sea -2523/2624) and the Main/Main-Danube canal/Danube from hex 2526/2626 thru to 3938/3939. also a Salient/Bulge made up of hexes 2523-2527,2423-2428,2323-2325. Soviets DO NOT control Bremen,Nurnburg,Wurzburg or hex 2628( these are still Nato controlled) All Soviet forces start deployed on the map except (2) 2.2.2 Para Divisions (these were destroyed in the first days of the invasion). Of these the following start at their ONE Step side - (18)5.2.6 Tank, (11)4.2.6 Mot Inf. (3)9.1.6 ART, (2)2.2.2 Para. Also ALL 8th Guards Divsions start at One Step. From the AT Start forces All 8th Guards units plus (5)5.2.6 Tank, (3)4.2.6 Mot Inf, (1)9.1.6 ART. must be deployed in the Salient/Bulge area. All Nato units are deployed on the map except for (2)0.1.0 German Terr (destroyed in earlier fighting). The following two step units start at One Step. US - (2)7.4.8 TK, (2)5.7.8 Mech. GERMAN - (2)6.5.8 TK, (2)5.6.8 Mech. (1)3.3.2 Jager. UK - (2)5.4.8 TK. BELGIUM - (1)5.5.8 Mech. DUTCH - (2)5.5.8 Mech. FRANCE - (1)5.5.8 Mech. All Nato units start West of the Weser/Main/Danube/Salient line. ALL US units must start within 3 hexes of the Soviet Salient/Bulge force (The Nato Counterattack Force). Bremen,Nurnburg,Wurburg & Hex 2628 start in Nato control. Game length is 12 turns. All rules are used including the Optional SF/EW/WW rules. Nato Starts turn ONE with Air Superiority. On turn TWO determine as per the normal rules. Game Sequence change. The turn sequence is now - I Air Superiority II Nato Player turn A.US Move/Combat(1st Turn Only) B.US Combat/Move(1st Turn Only) C.Nato Move/Combat(A after 1st turn) D.Nato Combat/Move(B after 1st turn) III Soviet Player turn. A.Move/Combat B. Combat/Move There is NO 8th Guards phase in the game. Treat as normal Soviet units. On the First game turn only the US has a A/B phase before the other Nato units. On turn Two US units are treated as normal Nato units Victory - Soviets MUST hold ALL Captured cities that were east of their startline. Also they MUST capture the Ruhr Industrial area, Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bremem, Nurnburg & the Two Cologne hexes 1515 & 1516. Nato wins if they prevent a Soviet victory. Optional Forces - If you have Joe Bisio's variant rules for the game you can add into the Soviet At Start Troops the Czech Forces.
