From: caraher@umich.edu (John Caraher) Description: OTR semi-official turn drag change When a turn is carried across two game turns an aircraft effectively pays the drag twice for one change of facing. This rule was developed to prevent players from declaring a turn to get a wider gun arc, then aborting the turn without penalty. An alternative rule has been proposed; instead of incurring the turn drag cost at the moment the aircraft changes facing, the drag is assessed at the moment the turn is begun. This prevents the game turn duration game mechanic from changing the total drag cost of a given turn. The only real rough spots are the cases of aborted turns (where you will have already paid the drag for a completed turn when you abort) and changing turn rates (easing up on the G's won't get you a lower drag cost if you pay at the start). JD likes this change, and it probably will become official either with the errata or Achtung Spitfire. -- John Caraher caraher@umich.edu
