New Kremlin Intrigue Cards by David Reed (dmreed@bihs.net) Our gaming group _really_ likes Kremlin. I mean, __really__! Our only complaint was that it did not seem quite _bloody_ enough. The Revolution set almost sated our bloodlust, but after a while, we started creating new cards. We have used them in dozens of games over the years, and really l ike them. I would love to hear from anyone who uses the cards or has some new ideas. I hope you enjoy them... 68. Moved, Left No Forwarding Address: Indiscrete letters from the KGB Head to a "special friend" get delivered to the GRU (Army Intelligence). KGB Head is broken to the ranks of the people. 69. We Have the Negatives, Comrade: subtle hints about the contents of the KGB files have everyone cowed. The KGB head may not be purged or denounced this year. He may not be moved from office without his consent. The player currently controlling the KGB head adds two free declared IP to him. Discard at the end of year. Play anytime. 70. Unusual File Found in KGB Archives: concerns the backgrounds of the Motherland's founding fathers. The information will _not_ be well received. The KGB chief ages half a die roll as he tries to decide whether or not to let the Politbureau know... 71. Rebellion in the Baltics: The army puts down a potential rebellion in the Baltic republics. The Defense Minister may not be purged or denounced this year. He may not be moved from office without his consent. The player currently controlling the Defense Minister adds two free declared IP to him. Discard at the end of year. Play anytime. 72. Perhaps the Photos Were a Bit Fuzzy: The purge attempt that just succeeded actually failed. 73. Not Only Do We Have the Photos, We Have Tapes, Too: Double all ?'s presently in play. 74. Oops: The Defense Minister's chief spy investigator just defected. All ?'s are removed. 75. American P.O.W.'s found in Siberia: Defense Minister ages SP=current turn number. 76. This is the Cold and Flu Season: The Siberian express comes rolling through. All Health rolls are -4. Must be played in the next Health phase. 77. Major Oops: The bacterialogical warfare's escape prevention plan was not as foolproof as advertised. Add a cross to everyone! Must be played in the next Health phase. 78. Blimp Filming Parade Crashes into Reviewing Stand: Parade cancelled - no waving possible. May be played after a successful wave. 79. Attempts at Monetary Reform Laughed Out of Foreign Exchanges: Economy Minster ages half a die roll. 80. We Have Our Own Agenda: The army wishes to perform some purges of their own. The Defense Minister will handle all purges this year. 81. Reload: Try the purge or assassination attempt that just failed again. 82. Phone Lines Down: Party Officials responsible for this phase (2, 3, 5) is away from their desk and can not be reached. The next official in the chain of command will have to perform the duties. 83. Economy Minister Caught Wearing Black Market Blue Jeans: The Economy Minister is broken to the ranks of the people. 84. Latest Team of Female Athletes Develop Male Pattern Baldness: Sports Minister ages half a die roll. 85. Track Star Kills Seven in Meet, Has to be Destroyed: Sports Minister is broken to the ranks of the people. 86. Megadittos from Moscow: Ideology Chief is caught calling Rush Limbaugh and is broken to the ranks of the people. 87. Marx's Lost Last Book Found: He recants entirely and the Ideology Chief ages SP=current turn number. 88. Drunk Specialist: Apply -4 to a health roll of a politician in the sanitorium. 89. Did He Wave?: All cameras zoom in on the parade reviewing stand which has just collapsed under a bunch of medal-laden officers. No one can recall whether the Party Chief waved during the parade. May be played after a succesful wave. 90. Dyslexic Assassin Gets His Orders Mixed Up: Roll to determine whose dacha he's waiting outside of: 1: Party Chief, 2: KGB Head, 3: Foreign Minister, 4: Defense Minister, 5: Ideology Minister, 6: Industry Minister, 7: Economy Minister, 8: Sport Minister, 9-13 Candidate, 14 or higher: No one of import. Play on an assassin after a target is d esignated, but before he rolls the attempt. The original target may wind up as the final target. 91. KGB Hires Dr. Kevorkian: Target politician must roll on normal health table (even if in sanitorium) at -4. 92. Back Up: Reroll the assassination or purge attempt at +1. 93. Shooting Blanks: The KGB has reloaded the assassin's or purger's gun for the people's safety, of course. All attempts by this player this year fail. No further cards may be played to alter this result. We have some other ideas, involving the attempted coup, Chechnia, and drunken politicians, but they are not as playtested as the ones listed here.
