I have received at least one request for the additional rules and counter values for Hornet Leader (GMT) that came included with Thunderbolt and Apache Leader. For the benefit of others who may be interested, I am posting them below. Matt Bace bace@pictel.com ============================================================================== Hornet Leader New Counters -------------------------- Rockeye: Weight Points: 1 Legal Load Area(s): same as Mk 82 Usage: Bomb Hits range 0: 2 range 1: - range 2: - The Rockeye is used just like a Mk 82 or Mk 83. Because the Rockeye is a cluster bomb is has a good chance to score one hit, but cannot score more than one hit. Gun Pod: Weight Points: 1 Legal Load Area(s): same as Mk 82 Usage: Cannon A Hornet may only carry 1 gun pod. The gun pod adds 2 to any strafing attack made by the Hornet, but the gun pod may not be used in air-to-air combat. The gun pod does count as an AGW point for purposes of dogfight modifiers. Rockets: Weight Points: 1 Legal Load Area(s): same as Mk 82 Usage: Bomb Hits range 0: 6 range 1: - range 2: - The rocket counter is not removed when rockets are fired. It is retained and may be used any number of times to attack a ground or naval target. Sidearm: Weight Points: 0 Legal Load Area(s): same as Sidewinder Usage: HARM or Missile Hits range 0: 4/11 range 1: - range 2: - The Sidearm is used exactly like a HARM, except that it can only attack SAM sites within the same are as the firing Hornet. AIM-120: Weight Points: 0 Legal Load Area(s): same as Sparrow Usage: Long-Range Air Combat A Hornet firing 1 AIM-120 receives a modifier of +4 to achieve a Firing Position. A Hornet firing 2 AIM-120s receives a modifier of +8 to achieve a Firing Position. A Hornet firing 1 AIM-120 and 1 Sparrow (they may be freely mixed) receives a +7 modifier to achieve a Firing Position. Add 1 to the Fire Position Result die roll for each AIM-120 fired by the Hornet. See below for restrictions on the usage of AIM-120s and SLAMs. SLAM: Weight Points: 2 Legal Load Area(s): same as Harpoon Usage: Missile Hits range 0: 4/8 range 1: 3/7 range 2: 5/9 The SLAM (Stand-off Land Attack Missile) is the land attack version of the Harpoon. It is used exactly like the Harpoon except that it may also be used to attack ground targets. See below for restrictions on the usage of AIM-120s and SLAMs. High Cost of AIM-120 and SLAM: ------------------------------ Both the AIM-120 and SLAM are new, expensive weapons. Thus, they may only be used in WWIII Campaigns. Even then, their quantity is limited. At the start of each mission, (after drawing the Briefing Card), roll a die. The result is the number of SLAM/AIM-120 counters available for the mission. The player is free to decide how many will be SLAMs and how many will be AIM-120s while arming the Hornets. Counters may not be saved for future missions. Su-27 and Mig-31: ----------------- These two Soviet aircraft appear only in WWIII Campaigns. Place their counters in with the Mig-25 and Mig-29 counters. When a pair of Mig-25s of Mig-29s is indicated by the Enemy Air Presence Table, select a counter at random. If the counter drawn is a Mig-31 or Su-27, sort through the counters and find the other Mig-31 or Su-27. If the first counter drawn is a Mig-29 or Mig-25, use the normal rules. Mig-31s and Su-27s add 2 to their Fire Position Result die rolls in Dogfight combat (like a Mig-29).
