From: "Skip Franklin" Subject: Wizard Kings physical review Wizard Kings by Columbia Games A short pre-game review Wizard Kings comes in a box with a cover sleeve that should not allow any leakage during transportation to your next game. Included are two armies, the Elves and Orcs, four geomorphic maps and the rule book. The rule book is only 8 pages and that is counting the front page with no rules. The rules are easily digestible and if you have questions there is a webpage to answer your questions. http://www.wizardkings.com Wizard Kings uses the well known wooden block technique. The blocks add that chest tightening feeling of the unknown during play. Each army has 28 units in a plastic bag. You have to place the symbols on the wooden blocks does not take long. Here are the available armies. ELDRYN ELVES (green) 3 Wicana (Wizard) 6 Ranger (Archer) 4 Pixie 2 Treek (Tree Giant) 7 Glader (Light Guard) 3 Castle (Stronghold) 1 Mermaid (Chaos) 1 Unicorn (Chaos) 1 Pegasus (Chaos) JURAK ORCS (orange) 3 Shakla (Wizard) 3 Ogre (Giant) 4 Troll (River Troll) 6 Orc (Great Orc) 6 Goblins (Lesser Orc) 3 Castle (Stronghold) 1 Pegasus (Chaos) 1 Dragon (Chaos) 1 Kraken (Chaos) These are available expansion armies. KHURDAK DWARVES (gray) 3 Stonemage (Wizard) 4 Khabar (Crossbow) 4 High Guard (Heavy Foot) 8 Low Guard (Light Foot) 2 Catapult (War Engine) 3 Castle (Stronghold) 1 Gargoyle (Chaos) 1 Mermaid (Chaos) 1 Minotaur (Chaos) MORTOD UNDEAD (black) 3 Necrom (Wizard) 2 Vampire (Immortal) 4 Deathbow (Archers) 4 Varghan (Dark Knights) 8 Zombies (Skeleton Foot) 4 Castle ((Stronghold) 1 Spider (Chaos) 1 Spectre (Chaos) 1 Kraken (Chaos) Four more armies are in the works and due out by year's end. Viksyn Amazons, Wildryn Barbarians, Ferkins Warboars and Chaos Mercenaries. Included with the armies is a data card showing each of the normal units and their movement, combat and cost info. Spells for the Wizards is on the bottom of the card. Each Wizard knows three level 1 spells, two level 2 spells and a level 3 spell. The maps have large hexes for holding up to seven attackers and the defenders as well. Each map section is geomorphic so you can flip them around, mix and match. Four maps are available now and eight more will be available by the end of the year. Each map has a scheme. The expansion maps have names and come in a two-pack. Barrenlands and Dragonia are due out in October 2000 and Misty Islands and Azure Shore are due out in November. The physical components are of high quality and should be playable with the younger crowd like my 12-year old son. Skip Franklin wargamr@earthlink.net http://home.earthlink.net/~wargamr
