Is : there someone out there familiar enough with it to review it? : Anyone playing it by email? I haven't played it yet :-( but I can give an idea what in the box. Basically, the map is Italy with parts of the Balkans and Tunis. The map is slightly different from the original, Tyrrhenian Sea is not longer split into East & West and the borders arounf the tip of Sicily have been modified. A few territories (mostly in the north) have been combined with a neighbor to form a new larger territory. The map itself is a work of art and there are NO MISSSPELLINGS!! ;-) The pieces are similar to the original version (cardboard counters) except they are not numbered. Orders are now made A/F Start-Finish, as in Diplomacy. The basic rules are almost exactly the same as Diplomacy now except for the addition of Garrisons and sieges. (This includes the fact that the new version does not allow fleets on the coast to convoy.) The optional rules include the ducats, assassination, bribery, plagues/famines, etc. Overall I recommend it, the map is excellent and the game itself should have a different number of players (6-8 player scenarios look very playable.) -- Richard Irving rri1@pge.com I don't like disclaimers, but I have to put them in. The opinions here are my own and not necessarily PG&E's. (As if it had any opinions about this stuff!) Made with recycled electrons.
