From: brehob@cps.msu.edu (Mark W Brehob) Description: Junta: Review It has been a While but: Junta is a game of back-stabbing political in-fighting. It is also quite silly. Game Mechanics: The games starts by voting on a president. The newly made president then hands out offices to the other players. These jobs include army generals, Navy, Air Force, and (if I remember) a minister of finance. Each turn the President allocates his random budget to the players, and they vote on it. A lot of strange things can happen if the budget does not get passed. (There are many cards the players might have that affect how many votes they get.) There can also (and WILL be) assassination attempts, and coup attempts. Normally the job of president gets passed to almost all of the players. (When you die, you come back as your brother-in-law.) The winner is whoever has the most money in his/her swiss bank account! General review: Great game! Back stabbing is almost required if you want to win. This is not a game to play with your spouse, people you don't know well yet, or those whom you hope to keep as friends. This can cause problems actually getting around to playing the game very often. So great game if you play with strangers a lot, or your friends (and youself) are thick skinned! Mark Brehob brehob@cps.msu.edu
