ron mosher - 02:40pm Jan 13, 2001 PST (#609 of 611) Well there's ASL and then there's........err...ASL? For the non-ASML types: From: "John C. Meyers" Subject: ASL: ASLRB 2ed Quick Look Sender: owner-advanced-sl@multimanpublishing.com To: advanced-sl@multimanpublishing.com Ok guys, I've got a brand new copy here. Here's what you get. The outer dimensions of the binder are 11 9/16" x 11" x 2 5/8" (give or take a fraction). Inside are two shrink-wrapped bundles. The smaller bundle has the dividers. The first thing you notice is that the tabs are gone. (They only got crushed anyway.) The first three dividers are fold-outs and are for chapters A, B and C. The next two, chapters D and E, are not fold-outs. Next is what was the chapter H divider. It is a fold-out and includes the German equipment info, the German, Russian and Finnish OBA availability charts, fortification BPV table, etc. The major change is the updated ELR and Armor Leader DRM charts; they now include everybody. Next is the Scenario Aid Card (formerly chapter J then K divider) now in color and with some changes to accommodate more charts. Next is an extra large fold-out (three panels per side) containing the OBA flowchart on one side and the National Capabilities chart on the other (along with few extra goodies to fill the extra space). Next we have the overrun flow chart on one side of a fold-out and the IIFT on the other*. (The concealment strip PTCs are highlighted.) It looks like the Ole Bole chart. Next is a fold-out of the QRDC,but only one copy. Finally, we have the ASOP as a fold-out. The text is rather hefty. The first thing you notice is the crisp print. (Well actually, it's the smell, but that will go away with time or be overwhelmed by your average ASLer.) Then you start seeing the color, a bit more than before. You begin paging through and you see a big example on routing, CC, etc. But enough of that, how many pages are there? Intro and basic outline of contents (i.e. chapter headings): 7pp Chapter A: 60pp Chapter B: 43pp Chapter C: 26pp Chapter D: 24pp Chapter E: 27pp Chapter H: 47pp (but uses an combination number/lettering scheme) Chapter J: 2pp (includes credits on second side) Chapter K: 44pp Index & Glossary: 28pp The only thing that I did not see, and really want to see, is a list of what is supposed come with the rulebook. So did I really get every page? every divider? I hope the list is in there somewhere! I guess some people are actually using this now. Me I have to wait until tomorrow. John "I could stay to play, but I still picked up my rulebook" Meyers I will not be responsible for the ensuing IFT vs. IIFT flame-war. But note that the IFT is on chapter A and the QRDC; the IIFT is only on the one divider.
