Hi Alan, some Tank Leader Q&A I picked up off r.g.b from one of the official developers/designers some years ago. First applies to all games, rest to Western Front Tank Leader. Markus Western Front Tank Leader Q&A by Len Quam, 6 Mar 1998 (Note: first one applies equally to all Tank Leader games) Q: Do range fire dice-roll modifiers exist in indirect fire? (Is it relevant how farmy mortar is from the target.) A: Range dice roll modifiers are not used for indirect fire (all other modifiers do apply). Obviously, range still affects spotting for indirect fire. I think Peter Corless may have clarified this in North African Front Tank Leader, but I don't have a copy handy at the moment. Also, remember that if the firing unit spots its own target for indirect fire its (and only its) fire strengths are doubled (13.29). By extension, there are no range dice roll modifiers for artillery or air strikes. Q: In the "Delaying The Action On The Marne" scenario, it is stated that US units should be placed on map A EAST from the hexrow xx06 and Germans on the same map WEST from the hexrow xx100. This deployment leaves almost no space between opposing units. A: As near as I can remember, the US setup should have been West of Axx06 and the German East of Axx10. This would start every one on map A with the US driving east towards map B. I think this was in some official errata, but I don't seem to have a copy. Q: In scenario "The Rhine River Blues" there are several German units with "T" designation which means that these artillery units (towed anti-tank guns) cannot be moved without trucks or halftrucks. Since no German formation included in the scenario has a truck or halftruck how can anti-tank guns from HQ/Gerbel (148) and HQ/65 (139) enter the map if they can't move without trucks or half-truck? A: Makes things easy for the Americans, eh? :) There were supposed to be trucks allocated to the Germans in that scenario. Two each to HQ/Gerbel and HQ/65. This gives both formations enough transport to lug all their stuff (a truck can tow one "T" artillery unit and carry 3 infantry or artillery (the mortars) at the same time.
