Yes >2a) When placing units at the beginning of the game, the rules say "place units in any home areas desired". Does this mean each faction is limited to placing initial units in spaces labeled with their faction name in parentheses? It seems not since, for example, North/Asia gets 4 units in Central Asia, but there are only two spaces marked as their "home" areas. Yes >2b) Can units be placed initially in any space regardless of its "home area" indicator (e.g. a North/Asia unit could be placed in Central Asia space Tashkent marked "(Bolshevik)")? No, you must place the unit(s) in areas appropriately marked as friendly to that faction. >3) I suppose if the answer is to 2b is "yes", then rule 6.1 still holds and the area would have to be sieged in order to get control, even though the unit started the game there? No, See above. >4) I don't seem to have a counter for the North/Asia leader Said-Alim. Is my counter missing, or is there an issue with the setup instructions? Error in instructions. You can get a copy of the counter from this variant article: http://www.avalanchepress.com/red_russia_options.php
