Ulrich Blennemann - 12:00am Apr 28, 2003 PST (#846 of 903) Phalanx Games www.phalanxgames.nl "And Uli's a tad under the weather..." I´m feeling a little bit better today, emphasis on "a little"... Filip, 2.5 the playing cards Do I understand it right that the cards with the 1 in the left bottom corner are to be interpret as follows: The event on that card can only be played once meaning that the player who played that event or any other player can not play the same event during one of the follwing impulses of the active player. A: All players can only play such a card once per player impulse (again, see Frank´s correct and more detailed response). 4.2 Order of play There seems to be a contradiction between 4.2.1 and 4.2.3 4.2.1 states that the order of play is the result of how much VP players have and starting from the player with the lowest VP you decide the order of play. So first the player with lowest, then the one with second lowest etc.. BUT 4.2.3 states that the order is clockwise starting from the active player meaning the player with the lowest VP. Could you tell me wich order of play we need to follow. A: It is clockwise starting from the player with the lowest VPs. (And see Frank´s response.) 5.0 the example nr 2 mentioned: it states that when you play the eventcard with the fleet that once the legions moved thy ecannot move (or battle) again. Question: Moving during that same impuls or moving during that playround? By the way do I understand correctly that the definition of an impuls is 'one command given by playing 1 - 4 cards'?? A: Moving during the player impulse. Yes, in one impulse you may play up to 4 cards (which is not always a good idea...). 6.0 Battle When you start the attack within a province against an opposite player, I pressume you'll have to ad a 1 BP bewegingspunt,ie a movement point before you can attack? If I moce and attack does the number in the left top corner include both actions; in other words if say there is a '3' can I use 2 of that to invade and use the remaining one to declare an attack? Or do I hav to play a new card to declare an attack?? A: You do not have to play a new card; you could use 2 MPs for Movement and the last one for the Attack (remember, an Attack is part of Movement). What is the purpose of the control markers? You only control a province if you have more legions present than the other players have in the same province. So you must have 1 legion at any time in a province to control it. Why place a control marker? A: The control markers are not strictly necessary - they are a reminder for players you want to check things more quickly. In addition, you may mark armies that have already moved. On page 14 of the Dutch edition: Ave Caesar. - It says that the Pretender must be accompanied by a legion and be in his home territory to claim the status of Emperor. Should that not be "General" like it says in the rules? A: Yes. The Bad Health card. You may use this card against an enemy leader (not emperor). You may also target a fleet? Does that mean their does not need to be a leader using the Fleet card? A: If you use it against a fleet there has to be a leader moving. "We all enjoyed it very much, but we think that the game is better with 4 players than 3." Thanks for the kind words. Yes, you are right it is much better with 4 than with 3 (as the rules state - and the box has the 3 players in brackets). Uli Frank Hakstege - 08:31am Apr 28, 2003 PST (#851 of 903) Hello USA, this European supports you and the men and women serving in Iraq. Uli, Can a stack of units move more than once during a player impulse? E.g. play 1 card and move stack A, play a card move stack B, play a card and move stack A again? Or must you play all cards for one stack before moving on to another stack? Frank Ulrich Blennemann - 09:44am Apr 28, 2003 PST (#852 of 903) Phalanx Games www.phalanxgames.nl Frank, Can a stack of units move more than once during a player impulse? No: Once a legion/army stops (attacking is not necessarily a "stop"), it is finished, and its units may not move any further that player round. Or must you play all cards for one stack before moving on to another stack? Yes. Uli
