OFFICIAL RULE CHANGES, CLARIFICATIONS AND ERRATA FOR BAR-LEV MORALE BREAKING (change) The point where a nations morale breaks is left unchanged but we are re-defining the "effect" of the morale break. We will define it in terms of a break in the Syrian morale, but the re-definition would also apply to both the Egyptians and the Israelis. The effect is as follows: From that instant on all Syrian direct fires against Israeli units must add "one" to their die roll. Artillery shelling and aircombat is unaffected by the morale breaking. However, any Syrian units in either Fort Hebron or in a "fortification" or "Fortified area" hex are immuned to this rule. So when the Syrian fires out from these positions his fire is unaffected. MIG-23, EGYPTIAN OB. (correction) When the basic research for BAR-LEV was done there was reasonable evidence that Russia had given the Egyptians the new MIG-23 fighters. This has since been demonstrated to be wrong. So, for a strict historical game they should be deleted from the Egyptian OB. However, they could still be used in various "what if" scenarios. REFITTING ARAB ARTILLERY (clarification) On the REFIT TABLES it is said that Arab artillery cannot be refitted. This is true, but the question arose of using it to "refit" equivalent units. In other words, what the Arab player wanted to do was scrap three "6-4" arty and take a "6-4" mech.inf. back. This would not be allowed. Arab artillery may not refit and it may not be used to help refit any other Arab units. When it is killed it goes straight to the "Units Scrapped Box". The same applys to SAMs. REFITTING BRIDGES (clarification) Yes, the Arab player may refit his destroyed bridges at the normal Arab rate. RECCE JEEP UTILIZATION (clarification) This rule, though it describes the function of these units does not really explain their implementation. And since this is a key Israeli tactic it is important that it be understood. The actual sequence is as follows: 1. Arab unit is next to Israeli "jeep" and announces that it intends to fire on it. 2. Israeli player than either has his jeep sit and take it or immediately pulls back one hex. 3. The arab unit involved then moves into the hex where the jeep used to be. Neither the jeep or that involved Arab unit or units may fire in this particular fire phase. Clarifications a. The recce jeep may not pull back through an Arab ZOC. b. The recce jeep units may be refitted any number of times. c. The recce jeep may do this only in the Arab Module. If it voluntarily stays next to an Arab unit in the Israeli movement phase it can befiredon like any other unit. MISSING HAWK AA According to the Israeli Refit Table the Israeli's would get a HAWK AA missle back from the "Unit's Scrapped Box" on October 9. But often the Israeli player has not lost a Hawk, so would he then get another one? No, he would not as it would not be sent until one would've been lost. However, once it is lost it would be rushed forward with great haste, so it may be immediately put in a "Front Box" rather than going through the "Mobilization Box". FIRST FIRE, DEFINITION OF The term "First Fire" means just that. If a unit is killed by a legal "first fire" from an enemy unit(s) then it is immediately removed from the board without even getting a shot off. FIRE PHASE (clarification) Regardless of whose "Direct Fire Phase" it is, any unit can elect to fire at any enemy unit that is adjacent to you. Even if that adjacent enemy unit is not attacking you, your unit could still elect to fire against it.
