philjat - Nov 19, 2006 9:38 am (#72 Total: 81) Philippe JATHAN I buy one today, Niko. When are you shipping the game ? One question, on the firing rules : 2 5-2 units firing at 3 hexes on a unit in forest, total firepower is 3x2=6 the diceroll is 4 so to determine hit the operation is 4 (dice result)* 6 (firepower) = 24 / 3 (terrain divisor) = 6 hits in the target hex. Correct ? If 2 units are in this target hexe they're eliminated and a "Unit" morale check at to make, right ? If the unit is 4 counter and a leader(moral 7) the morale number or less to make is : - step a : 6 (hits taked) - 4 (original number of counter) = 2 - step b : 7( unit moral) - 2 (step a result) = 5 _ step c : dice roll <= 5 ok is good ; 6 to 9 breaking, 10 or more removed from the game. Right ? I played like this and on turn 6 no republican on the map. Another one on LOS can a unit in a level1 or 2 Hill can fire on ground level ? Is Orchard terrain is a clear los or is penality exist ? Well i'll stop for now, but there're a long time ago i found a game who enjoy me like this, i like the simplicity and phiosophy of this. LOS rules -- one of the most difficult things to write. If you go back and look at most of the ones that go into some detail you'll find that units at the tops of hills often can't shoot at targets at the bottom of the hill This happens, for example, in SPI's October War and WEG's Tank Leader. philjat - Nov 19, 2006 11:01 am (#74 Total: 81) Philippe JATHAN >LOS rules -- one of the most difficult things to write Yes Steven, i think i'll make my home los rules like other games at this scale. Normaly common sense is good, and for other situation an odd or even dieroll result will solution the matter Nicolas Eskubi - Nov 19, 2006 11:45 am (#75 Total: 81) Philippe, Actually, that is the procedure from the demo rules, which has since been updated. This is how your situation would unfold using the current addition rules: “2 5-2 units firing at 3 hexes on a unit in forest, total firepower is 3x2=6 the diceroll is 4.” As there are no other modifiers, you would go to the “6” column on the Combat Results Table. On the CRT we see that “4” under the “6” column generates “3” hits. This number is now divided by the terrain divisor…in this case “3” for Light Forest. The result is the actual number of hits…in this case “1”. Thus, one of the defending units takes a hit and is marked accordingly. Once a unit is eliminated, the formation must take a morale check: “If the unit is 4 counter and a leader (moral 7) the morale number or less to make is: - step a: 6 (hits taked) - 4 (original number of counter) = 2 - step b: 7( unit moral) - 2 (step a result) = 5 _ step c: dice roll <= 5 ok is good ; 6 to 9 breaking, 10 or more removed from the game.”…. Yes this is correct!!!!!! “I played like this and on turn 6 no republican on the map”…. Yeah! The translation in the demo rules incorrectly stated to “multiply” the dice roll by the firepower to get the number of hits! This caused some serious casualties as you have seen! “Another one on LOS can a unit in a level 1 or 2 Hill can fire on ground level ?”…… Yes, provided that there are no other hill hexes of the same level between you and the target hex. Let’s assume we have 3 hexes in a row. Starting left to right, we have a level 2 hill hex (, level 1 hill hex (C), and an open ground hex (D). All of these hexes have a line of sight to each other. Now lets add a forth hex on the left so we now have level 2 hill (A), level 2 hill (, level 1 hill (C) and open ground (D). Hex A would have a LOS to hex B ONLY. You would not be able to see any lower hexes because the level 2 hill terrain in hex B blocks your LOS to C and D. Similarly, D would have an LOS to C and B, but not A. A B C D X X - - X - - - X Looking something like that. Not sure Philippe if you are familiar with games at this scale, but Steven is right. LOS and Elevation are one of the most difficult aspects of the game to get a handle on. “Is Orchard terrain is a clear LOS or is penalty exist ?” I might have to defer to Juan Carlos’s opinion on this, if you are firing INTO the Orchard terrain from a higher elevation, there would be no DRM because you are no firing THROUGH the Orchard hex.
