1) Is the pre-cavalry charge/French column attack morale check
(per 9.1.2) considered the single morale check for that phase,
or is it an additional morale check (i.e. an exception to 12.0)?

An exception to 12.0.

2) When exactly do you make the morale check: when you take the
first hit(s) or after you've taken all possible hits for a phase?
(We were playing the former, and their was one time when a stacked,
disrupted unit failed a morale check, leaving the bottom unit exposed
to fire. If the morale check had come after all fire, the top unit
would have taken the extra hits.)

3) 9.1.5 states that a unit can't inflict more hits than it has
strength points. Am I correct in assuming that if several units are
shocking the same opposing unit, the number of hits they can inflict
is equal to the total strength of all the shocking units?
