From: citizenx@islandnet.com Subject: errata for Web-Groganrds First Battle Clarifications 3 November 1988 First Battle: Team Yankee Gamer reaction to Team Yankee has been tremendous. The Origins Awards presented at the National Wargaming Convention held in August 1988 recognized Team Yankee as the best wargame covering the modem period. At the sane time. Team Yankee won the rival Garners Choice Award in the same category. GAME COMPONENTS The following clarifications should help in your understanding of Team Yankee the game. Counters: MI US troop counters except Bannon have a defense value of 3. Three US troops are missing their defense value of 3. Rules: The rule covering helicopters (p. 10) states that helicopters are attacked at a maximum of I-I odds. Helicopters are always attacked by enemy units at 1-1 odds regardless of the attack strength of the enemy units. Soviet Equipment: The BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle counter illustration on page 22 has the counter illustration of a BMP-1. The BMP-2 has a missile attack value of 24, a missile range of 20, a gun attack value of 2 and a gun range of 4. SPECIAL RULES The following clarifications provide a better understanding of the special rules. Copperhead: CLGP (Cannon-Launched Guided Projectile), better known as Copperhead, has not been funded for production; there is only a slim chance that it will ever be produced and enter service. Copperhead is included as a "what-if." when designing your own scenarios, each Copperhead salvo should cost 3 asset points. Reactive Armor: The Soviets have begun deploying reactive armor on their T-64, T-72, and T-80 tanks. Reactive armor consists of blocks of explosives attached to the outside of the tank which detonate when hit by a hollow charge warhead (such as on a missile or infantry-carried antitank rocket). Reactive armor has little effect on the long rod kinetic energy penetrators of a tank's main armament; it disrupts the gas jet of a hollow charge, thus reducing its penetration considerably. In the game, treat Soviet tanks with reactive armor as follows: All troops and all missiles have their attack values halved when firing at the front facing of a tank equipped with reactive armor. THE SCENARIOS Scenario I is a training scenario made up by the designers of the game. The other scenarios play out incidents from Team Yankee.
