Andy Lewis - 05:46am Aug 15, 1998 PST (#2 of 6) I tried these over on AOL and found noone home. Maybe I'll have better luck over here. 1) Can you advance if the only defending unit is revealed to be a dummy and you weren't invading the hex? 2) 12.3.5.f Do both cases 1) & 2) apply? If so, the Allies could lose 2 VP from just one operation. 3) 1/1 FJ and 185 Nembo parachute infantry are not shown as scenario 3/4 only but yet they don't appear in scenarios 1/2. Is this correct? 4) Do the ersatz reinforcements in scenario 2 get set-up during the initial set-up or are they drawn from the cup on the appropriate turn? 5) Why does scenario 2 give a choice of A or B for the Allies if the rules state B must be used? 6) Why round MA down when there are 1/2 mp hexes available? Thanks Anthony Curtis - 09:25am Aug 15, 1998 PST (#3 of 6) Andy, Here are some answers: 1) Can you advance if the only defending unit is revealed to be a dummy and you weren't invading the hex? Well, if you are executing an amphib invasion, and the target hex contains only a REMOVE Italian CD unit, then yes, move right on into the coastal hex. If you are attacking an untried CD unit from an adjacent land hex, you can also advance into the hex if it is a REMOVE unit when flipped over. 2) 12.3.5.f (Allied Naval Operations in the Axis Air Superiority Zone) Do both cases 1) & 2) apply? Yes, both cases apply. If so, the Allies could lose 2 VP from just one operation. Yes they could. 3) 1/1 FJ and 185 Nembo parachute infantry are not shown as scenario 3/4 only but yet they don't appear in scenarios 1/2. Is this correct? That is correct. The dot originally meant the units set up in Calabria, but in the end we used it to mean Scenario 3&4 set-up. The Axis set-up card is correct in that the 1/1FJ and 185 Nembo don't get used in scenarios one or two. 4) Do the ersatz reinforcements in scenario 2 get set-up during the initial set-up or are they drawn from the cup on the appropriate turn? Draw them on the apropriate turn. 5) Why does scenario 2 give a choice of A or B for the Allies if the rules state B must be used? We just used the A or B system here to provide continuity with the way it was done in Scenarios 3 & 4. 6) Why round MA down when there are 1/2 mp hexes available? Primarily because we wanted to show the effect of moving through difficult country when out of supply, even on roads. I hope you enjoy the game. The counter shown as the 36th artillery rgt should be the 36th engineer rgt. 2. Terrain effects chart (on map): Line reading Non-Road Alpine hex should read Total Alpine terrain hex. 3. All British armored battalions do have red motorized boxes, but the boxes do not stand out well. 4. 1/1FJ Rgt and 185 Nembo Rgt should have the black dot in the upper right hand corner for Scenario 3 & 4 set-up only. 5. Playbook, page 10, right hand column. The die roll for the parachute drop is 7 instead of 8, and is modified to 10 instead of 11. (Long after the tutorial was written, the DRM for parachute drops next to ar/mot units was added because it was two easy to drop two abn units into Calabria and slam-dunk the scenario in favor of the Allies - thus the Law of Unintended Consequences strikes again) 6.
