As far as I am concerned, this errata page is complete and the so called "official" errata on XTR's website bears no resemblence to the errata I sent them. If anyone has questions, I am at wmarsh@landmarknet.net William M. Marsh, designer of End of Empire END OF EMPIRE Errata MAP: Point Pleasant should be in S5310 not S5210 Catawba appearance hex should be S4317 not S4416. This is important because as the map is now, the Catawba appear in a prohibited hex. The border between VA and NC is missing between S5725 and S5825. 3221 should be spelled Gloucester 2613 should be spelled Ft. Stanwix New York (2220) is a port New Haven (2520) is a port. hex 5323 (Ft. Amherst - Port La Joye) is a port Clarification: The lake and river in 2914 connect for supply purposes. Clarification: hexes that connect for supply purposes (2613, 2914, 1608) can be entered from one river and exited from the other at the river movement rate. Turn Record chart: American Revolution. There should be a W indicating British withdrawals on turns 12, 20 and 35. The W on turn 30 is incorrect. There should be a W indicating American withdrawal on turn 8. Great War for Empire. Turn 9 should have an R for the British The W on turn 21 should be British, not French. There is no French R either. GWE Turn Record Track (clarification) The British "R" on turn 21 is for Gage replacing Abercromby and on turn 23 is for Stanwix replacing Forbes Iroquois Loyalty Chart: The footnotes for Caughnawaga and Mingo/Delaware are reversed. The "BA" on the 6 column of the Iroquois Loyalty Chart should read B1 The footnotes clearly state that if hex 1111 (Ft Duquesne-Ft Pitt) changes hands the Delawares and Mingos go home and if 3411 (Montreal) changes hands the Caughnawaga go home. Algonquin Indian Recruitment Chart : Second hex number for Micmac should be 5121 (not 5022) Fleet Availability Chart (new line - major change) Winter Turns (South Map only) British Fleet available 4 French Fleet available 1 (after French entry) Spanish Fleet available 1 (after Spanish entry) Rules: 2.5 (addition) Iroquois Indians have a red stripe on their counters. The Indians on the southern map are Appalachian Indians and those on the northern map without red stripes are Algonquin Indians. Appalachian Indians and Algonquin Indians are identical for game purposes. (Note that Mingos and Caug are Iroquois Indians who had moved away from the area controlled by the Iroquois Confederacy.) 4.2 (clarification) Place British reinforcements and replacements first, the American/French. 6.4 (addition) In the Great War for Empire scenario, either player may also draw outpost supply in any of the 9 civilized hexes in Nova Scotia (4523, 4725, 4923, 4924, 4926, 5323, 6025, 5926, 5927). Rule 7.2 (clarification) The control rules (9.8) mean that British provincial reinforcements without a circled entry code will not enter in American civilized hexes unless that hex is occupied by a British unit. 7.6 (clarification) If Arnold is killed while serving as a US leader, he does not enter as a British leader. 7.6 (correction) The 3rd to last paragraph got garbled somewhere along the way. It should correctly read: The Fort Gage garrison unit is removed the first instant, after French Entry, when a Continental or State unit enters its hex. 8.1 (correction) third line should correctly read "…a die roll that is less than or equal to the ranking leader's initiative rating. 8.3 (clarifications) The default leader of a unit with a circled movement factor may not move a stack containing units with normal or boxed movement factors. Normal default leaders may not move units with boxed movement factors. 8.5 (major change) Apply this case to the north map only. 8.8 (clarification) Read this case. This means that any stack without cavalry subtracts 1 from initiative roll for reaction movement. Montcalm has no cavalry. If you roll a six, he fails his reaction roll. Units with circled movement factors (only -- not stacks containing a unit with a circled movement factor) can evade combat automatically (except in winter, then a 6 will catch them). (Actually, in the GWE scenario, the best way to catch Montcalm is to go for a target he has to defend; i.e. Quebec.) 9.10 (major change) Apply the last paragraph to the north map only. 9.11 (major change) Apply this case to the north map only. 9.12 (clarification) "An additional initiative check" means a unit which wants to start its move by ferrying must roll twice for initiative. (The boats didn't always show up). (major change) In winter the increased cost applies to the north map only. 10.2 (clarification) The second paragraph prohibits two things. 1) Attempting to disengage from battle, failing, then attempting to reinforce the battle. 2) Attempting to reinforce a battle, failing, then deciding to disengage. 11.6 and 11.8 (clarification) If Indians are eliminated in combat they are put in the available box and are they eligible for reactivation the next turn. 11.8 (clarification) If for whatever reason combat occurs between two forces of Indians all of whom have 0 combat factors, remove both the attacker and defenders units and put them in the available box. 11.11 (Addition) In conventional combat, if the defender has 0 combat factors and the attacker has 1 or more combat factors, the defending force is eliminated without loss to the attacker. (This can only occur when Indians are stacked alone.) 11.20 (New Case) If all steps are eliminated in a stack, through ambush, regular combat, or supply attrition, any surviving leaders are considered POWs of the winner. They are considered eliminated, but may be exchanged for similarly eliminated leaders captured by the other player and reentered during the next reinforcement phase stacked with any supplied friendly unit. 12.2 (clarification) The placement of a militia unit upon enemy movement into a friendly civilized hex does not require a reaction die roll. 13.3 (correction) The example is incorrect. The British would only remove Mohawk, Mingo and Delaware units if the loyalty rating dropped to one. 14.2 (major change) Strike "non-winter" from the first sentence. (addition) In winter turns fleets are only available for use on the southern map and only if they are not already employed blockading on the north map per the first paragraph of 14.4 14.4 (major change) During winter turns, fleet counters may be left in place per this case in sea zones on the northern map. In this case they are automatically not available for use on the southern map that turn. 14.5 (clarification) The port from which an invasion begins does not have to be in the same sea zone as the invasion. The only requirement is that there must not be an enemy fleet offshore the port of embarkation. Only the invaded hex must have the fleet immediately offshore. You may invade friendly hexes. Clarifications to rule 15.1: If French entry has not occurred by turn 33, delay the entry of Rochambeau and the accompanying units until the turn of French Entry. The British player can trigger French entry by voluntarily eliminating units for draft replacements (7.11) 18.3 (clarification of Victory conditions) If the game ends with the American Economy collapsed and Lord North has not fallen, the Brits have outlasted the US and win. Any colonies where Royal Colonial Government has not yet been restored drift back to the Empire in the ensuing anarchy. 18.4:American Withdrawals (correction): The 7 Cont Regt should be withdrawn turn 11 instead of turn 5 Scenarios: 16.1 (Clarification) Not all units used in this scenario were printed with underlined set up codes. Use the following units: British: Carlton, 7, 8/1 K, 26 Cam, 84RHE, Can militia, Caug, Ab, Ottawa, Huron American: Montgomery, Schuyler, 1 Can, 2 Can CO, 1CT '75, 4CT '75, 5CT '75, Elmore CT, Bedel NH, 1NY, 1NY '75, 2NY, Nich NY, Warner GMB, Prov 19.1 (addition) The 7 Cont regiment sets up in New York City (2220) 20.1 All reinforcements and replacements with a southern entry hex are place on any hex in the southernmost hex row. The must roll for initiative to move further on the turn of entry. In 21.1 and 22.1, Eddy is listed as a British unit eliminated but available for replacement. It is an American unit. 21.1 Heath may also set up in Mass. Also, all reinforcements and replacements with a southern entry hex are place on any hex in the southernmost hex row. They must roll for initiative to move further on the turn of entry. 23.1 (corrections) The British 2Gr appears on the Br fleet at start. The AV unit does not set up at Pensacola, it enters with Arnold. The 6 NC is eliminated prior to start but available for replacement. 23.4 (additions) The British fleet is automatically available for use on turn 30 in the South Atlantic Sea Zone and on turn 36 in Chesapeake Bay. Arnold and his units enters on the British fleet in the North Atlantic Sea Zone and has already passed initiative for amphibious invasion (14.5). All US reinforcements and replacements with a northern entry hex are place on any hex in the S6000 hex row. They must roll for initiative to move further on the turn of entry. Counter Clarifications: 1)In scenario 17.0, the 3 Mass militia do set up at 5122. They were mobilized at Ft. Lawrence. (The only British success of 1755 was Monckton's capture of Ft.Beausejour with 2000 militia and 250 regulars. The militia will return to Mass. proper after its withdrawal on turn 3.) 2) In the American Revolution scenarios, the 2 Ga regiment correctly enters at Williamsburg and the 4 Ga regiment correctly enters at Philadelphia. (Georgia could not fill its quotas and raised these two regiments elsewhere.)
