Date: Saturday, April 29, 1995 10:52PM Sorry, guys, I've been out of town since Tuesday. It's real simple on the rules Gary asked about (though obviously we didn't state it simply enough if folks are having trouble with it). First, Reaction occurs only during enemy movement, not advances, retreats, etc. Second, the defending (non-moving) player gets an opportunity to react BEFORE overrun occurs. So, basically, you moved adjacent, and ask, "Are you reacting?" If yes, reaction is attempted. If no, movement (including overrun) continues (or is resolved). I hope this helps. Enjoy! Sorry for the trouble with this one. We'll make it much clearer (with an example) for the Leningrad game. I've been trying to resolve some sticky problems with CK95 and would appreciate input from any of you out there who have experience with it. First a few questions that GMT cleared up: 1) No advance checks vs. destroyed installations are required. 2) Air units in the Ready Box may be affected by collateral damage. 3) Captured airbased may be used to base helos only. They may not be used for spotting ranges, nor do hits on them result in collateral damage to planes, though they would of course affect any helos based there. 4) WW units may attack the AAA track. 5) Supply units and depots have an effeciency rating of 3. 6) Road movement is also affected by the +1 MP cost of fortifications. Now for the questions I have: 1) Can beachhead markers be reused after they're destroyed? If so, can you voluntarily eliminate them? If so, during which phase does this take place? And when do they become available for reuse? 2) I assume that ground units can chose to eliminate installations rather than capture them. Does this sound correct? 3) Can NK units trace supply across the hexsides that they can cross via hovercraft movement? If so, can only light inf. trace such supply? I figure that if they can move that way, they should be able to be supplied that way too. 4) What is the attack value of Wild Weasles during a storm? Any change to the column they attack air defenses on? 5) Can air units with medium range based in Japan attack air defense tracks? Can units with short range attack the air defense tracks? 6) In the eventuality that all of a countries air bases are destroyed, I assume that all of its remaining air units are destroyed. Is this correct? 7) Should military units in their own country get a chance a local detection in addition to national air defense net if they are the target of a strike? I wonder because once the NK air defense network is destroyed, NK units in South Korea get a chance at local detection SAM and AAA, but units in the North would technically get none (if the detection track is at 0, say). Is that how you play? 8) In this same case, if a military unit is stationed at an installation, and the installation is attacked, should it get a chance at local detection too? 9) When a unit loses a step to a strike, does it still suffer the same movement restrictions as a strike 2 or is it 'reset' to normal? Technically it's the latter, but it seems strange that taking a third strike level suddenly frees the unit to move fully (although at reduced strength). 10) Can roads that cross all-sea hexsides be blown? I take it they are bridges. Assuming they're REAL expensive to build, I don't know whether the South Koreans advocate blowing them in the event of war. There is no rule for this, but I wonder if there should be. 11) 22.15 "counting from the DMZ": what about the air units operating from the carriers? Aren't they allowed to approach N. Korea from the sides? This refers to the 5-hex range limit for short-ranged aircraft. 12) Can escorts re-engage against interceptors? If not, why not? 13) Why can a unit not move after being transported by Airmobile, but can>after being transported by Air Transport & Amphibious Transport (which is slower)? For that matter, why are naval and air transport points available each movement phase, but airmobile points are available each TURN? 14) Why can Cruise Missile strikes only take place when the launch platform is in an all-sea hex? TLAMs have quite a long range and should be able to be launched from the At-Sea box. 15) In the first campaign scenario, collateral damage vs. the ROK can be applied to any Korean air box. Does this include the air superiority box? 16) Air units in the Air Superiority box cannot be hurt by collateral damage, ever. This makes it a 'safe house' of sorts. Is this a bug or a feature? 17) Can ground units destroy airfields? I assume so, but how? There is no mechanism in place. BTW, the VP charts award +1 VP for capturing an airfield, but none for destroying it. Is this intentional or an oversight? These are the questions I have so far after playing an pbem game about 1/2 the way through the first turn. More will probably be forthcoming ;-) Any comments/interpretations/errata welcome. Lee
