Brian Train - 09:09am Oct 21, 1999 PST (#84 of 85) [ Mark ] "He was wont so to speak plain and to the purpose, as an honest man and a soldier." I guess it's most appropriate if I answer Michael's rules questions here where everyone can see them. My comments are set off with <<>>, but I am not replying in French. Brian or Kerry: I have a few rules questions for Arriba Espana and Shining Path: Arriba ====== Am I assuming correctly that units defending in a city in a mountain area don't get terrain benefits for both, it is an either/or? <> Suppose an invader attacks an area, does the defender at that point decide to hole up in the city, or must he have set up that way in the preceding organization phase? <> To continue the above, suppose the defender decides to defend in the area (not the city) to get the mountain modifier, the defender is eliminated (and was the only defender for that side in that area), attacker loses some units too, when the Turn Interphase arrives, does the attacker get to count that area as "city occupied" for purposes of die-rolling for control? <> Shining Path ============ I'm a little unclear on the operations phase sequence, but I think it's Sendero decides who'll do an op, or he passes. If he passes, Govt then decides who does an op, or passes. Could Sendero then do all his intended ops one at a time before letting the govt do any? (or vice-versa) <> What if Sendero tells Govt he must do the next op, can Govt pass? Would that then end the turn? <> Speaking of ending turns, what happens if both sides pass while units are still in the OC box and on patrol? Do they automatically go back to the UG and GAR boxes, and do the units in the OC box do likewise? <> Thanks for the games on the unusual subject matter, I really appreciate the work you guys are doing to bring these topics to light. I'm the guy whose been introducing these games to Lou Coatney, plan to get him into Shining Path next, or Battle for China when it arrives. Also, put me down for Algeria, it sounds like a must to me. Maybe I can talk Lou into playtesting. <>
