Fast, simple, not expensive, little errata, but only reasonably fun. (War game Review)

In his review on BoardGameGeek, Brendan Whyte first turns a critical eye towards the components and rules and lists their shortcomings. Game play fares better: “…the game is fast and quite fun”. Whyte then goes into comprehensive details covering game mechanics and spares no criticism for the game opponent (AI). His discussion concerning solitaire board games vs solitaire computer games is very interesting.

Agricola Master of Britain – first impressions

The Boardgames Chronicle has become enamored with Agricola, Master of Britain published by Hollandspielle, a solitaire game covering the Roman pacification of Britannia in the 1st century AD. Their impressions, "I fell in love with the game almost immediately. It is very uniquely designed – chit-pulling mechanics combined with three tribe cups and reaction to each of your actions. On top of this you have flexible set-up which allows for a great replayability. The graphics created by Anna Ziolkowska are very thematic, allow you to immerse in epoch. Still, they are very clear, unambiguous and beautiful in it simplicity. Last but not least, the game is tough. Yes, it is difficult and to win you need both great preparations as well as full commitments of your forces to crush Calgacus at Mons Graupius."

Brad of Hex Sides and Hand Grenades has a look at Hollandspiele Games' Agricola, Master of Britain, a solitaire game in which Rome assigns you the task of bringing first century Britannia to heel. Maybe you can use carrots instead of sticks: "Tribes can be paid off with public works to play nice."
