From: Douglas S Subject: Combat Variant WIZARD KINGS (columbia games) Hi..this is what we settled for for the combat variant- Before battle begins,roll a ten sided die. 1-6 roll favors defender (the current order combat is decided) while 7-10 favors attacker (opposite). An optional rule is after units are revealed, but before the 10 sided die-roll, the attacking wizard in the hex can cast a level 1 spell to modify the die roll by -1 or +1. Following this, the defending wizard in the hex can do the same and back and forth until 2 consecutive passes occur (by choice or because the wizard has only 1 step left). This means if there is only one wizard involved in the combat, he can modify the 10 sided die roll before it occurs by up to +- 3 if he is at strength 4. It means if there are no wizards involved in the battle..the roll will be fixed at 1-6 defender 7-10 attacker favored. Doug
