From: walterlzw@yahoo.com.tw (Walter Lai) Subject: My variant for Columbia Games' Waterloo Here's a variant I wrote as an answer to my own problems with the game. Comments included in parenthesis. Your comments or criticism are most welcome. * Cavalry get TF when they engage but not when they are engaged. [This was how I used to interpret the rules until CG published their own errata. The power of cavalry is dwindling by the early 19th century. Their power came from the impact of their charge.] * In a 3 player game, the Anglo and Prussian player does not share victory. If the French player is defeated, the player (Anglo or Prussian) with less eliminated blocks wins. [This devilish rule provides a reason for Bluecher to be late. The Seventh Coalition wasn't exactly an army with a single mind. Gneisenau himself expressed regrets that they should remove the thorn in England's paw.] * Anglo and Prussian units may not attack together. They MAY stack and defend together or reinforce each other. [Armies under different commands are hard to coordinate. Like the previous rule, this was implemented for the sake of balance. Don't use this rule if you are already implementing the previous one.]
