Flavio Ezio - Aug 19, 2007 5:54 pm (#43 Total: 49) Attila Pope ????? I never digested that rule and several years ago I designed some changes to the original rules. Try this for a more historical game: The pieces (change): AETIUS moves 4 spaces per turn, the POPE moves 3 spaces. 10.1 (change and addition): AETIUS (not the POPE) must convince the Visigoths, the Franks and the Burgundians to fight alongside of the Romans. Replace LEO I with AETIUS in the Diplomatic Chart. If the Burgundians join ATTILA, the AETIUS piece is immediately placed on top of the nearest roman or allied CTU not adjacent to enemy units. 10.2 (delete). 10.4 (delete). 10.5 (addition): The LEO I piece has not AOC, does not stack with other pieces and cannot be eliminated in combat. It cannot move out of Rome until ATTILA has conquered 13 points of cities (do not count Magontiacum, Ratisbona and Buda). When LEO I is adjacent to enemy units the Roman player rolls a die, applying the following results: 1-2: The barbarians are not impressed by the charism of the Pope. LEO I is killed. 3-4: No effect. 5-6: The barbarians are impressed by the Pope. They must move toward their national territory by the most and direct route. They cannot attack but will defend if attacked. When they reach their destination, they can move freely again.
