From: Ted Raicer Subject: New TGWiE optional rule Jim Falling wrote me: The ganging up for a flipflop has sometimes bugged us. We were thinking about a chance-based initiative flip. You know, if the weather is clear (1-4: successful flip) +1 for an unsuccessful try last turn, etc.... This way you can try to bet the whole enchilada but you had better be careful on your flip because your flop may not always happen. >> My response is the following optional rule: I wouldn't want to add chance to this. But I can see where the current rule would bother some players So I'll add an optional rule for the west front (not the east or Italy) only. West Front Double Turn Restriction If the player currently holding the initiative wishes to change the initiative under rule 6.17 from the east map to the west map (take a double turn in the west) he must, during the Initiative Determination Phase, have a continuous line of friendly units (combat units and/or HQs) on the Western Front (not Italy) from the Channel Coast or Holland or North Map Edge to Switzerland or the South Map edge. Note that an Allied line running from 5701 to 3621 (for example) would qualify and allow an Allied double turn, but a line from 5601 would not. Ted Raicer
