I think they are SUPERIOR to the revised chariot rules in the PRESTAGS chariot game. with THESE rules you can use chariots in the Egyptian manner if desired and it also gives horse archers the ability to act like horse archers. ARMAGEDDON S&T 34 (ADDITIONAL RULES) EGYPTIAN CHARIOTS "Pharaoh's chariots crossed the front of the enemy, raking it with fire..., in their wake, the Egyptian infantry finished off the broken enemy with the spear and the kopesh" Missile units carried on chariots (and horse archers), may fire offensively at any point of the chariot units movement. Resolve defender's missile fire first. Any units on chariots (and horse archers) are not required to cease movement upon entering the frontal hexsides of an enemy unit. RETREAT/DEFENSIVE FIRE BEFORE MELEE "the chariots of the enemy were as clouds of flies, first scattering before the fist of the infantry and then swarming on their hapless necks" Defending missile units may either defensively fire or retreat before melee, a number of hexes up to the maximum of the difference between their movement allowance and the attacking players units that have moved adjacent to their frontal hexside. Any missile unit that retreats instead of firing may not fire except missile units on chariots (and horse archers) may fire and retreat before melee.
