On Jul 12, 2011 11:15 AM, "Steven H." The game seems very promising - there are no 'set' or obvious opening moves, and entire theatres can lie quiet for many turns if the faction leaders don't turn their attention (i.e., allocate scarce moves from the cards) there. The classic 'Block' game Fog of War is minimal to start as the dozen or so blocks of each side all start in fixed positions at full strength, and even vaguely comparable from one block to the next (the real chaff get levied later on). In a sense _Julius Caesar_ combines the simplicity, speed of play, and strategic imperatives of Columbia's classic _War of 1812_ or _Quebec 1759_ with a broader range of choices in execution. We already have three players keen for our next game :)
