Subject: PANTHERS IN THE SHADOWS is out! From: billgoranson@delphi.com (William Goranson) Hello All, I just got PANTHERS IN THE SHADOWS in my store. I broke open my copy yesterday and but a couple of hours into it. After playing TIGERS ON THE PROWL for over a year, I found no problem following the "learning curve" For those of you who are not familiar with either game, they represent battalion level combat with each unit being a platoon of infantry, tanks, or a section of artillery. TIGERS ON THE PROWL (TOP) is the senior title and it concentrates on the Eastern Front. PANTHERS IN THE SAHADOWS is a new release using the TOP engine to allow one to fight Western Front actions. The interface is the same as TOP version 1.2, and it works very smothly. Instead of an Orders menu, PitS has a staff menu. Included are the verious staff positions such as S1, S2 etc. It is different, but actually very practical. Additionally, one can select units from the Table of organization rather than searching the map. This works much better than with TOP. The majority of the other features in PitS are the same as in TOP. There is no real improvement in graphics and as usual, I toggle the sound off. Probably the greatest improvement in PitS over TOP is the depth and scope of the game. The database includes vehicles and equipment used by Belgium, France ('40-'45), Britain, US, Italy, and Germany. There must be 20 different flavors of M4 Shermans plus alot of other unusual vehicles including the AVRE and landing craft. Also added to the system are airborne assaults, carpet bombing, amphibious assault, bridge blowing, and Off-map Bombardment. So far, I have not run across any bugs that stand out, and I am very happy with the game. It only reinforces my recommendation of HPS products. If you are interested in getting PitS, you will probably be able to get it from your local retailer soon. I have it in stock right now, and our price is $42.95 plus $4.00 shipping. If the order exceeds $50.00, the shipping is free.
