Mike, Quoting from the rules: "New France 1760 is a conflict simulation of the war fought between England and France for the control of Canada between the years 1755 and 1760. The game mapboard shows the area of operations in Eastern Canada and North-Eastern United States where the French and Indian War was fought." The components, though not spectacular, are handsome and sturdy. The map is mounted in the classic Avalon Hill style - but, alas, also uses the AH grid numbers "(example, Quebec [City] is T-32)". The problem with the game is that its outcome hinges on a single, "perfect solution": The control of Louisbourg by the end of the game. The British player will sit back and acculumlate men and ships for the assault on Louisbourg for most of the game. Then there will be two or three 2-1 assaults on the fortress. If one of these assaults succeed, the British win; else the French win. The game allows for a lot of other activities - e.g. raids on Montreal and New York, Indian ambushes, etc. - but they are of absolutely no consequence. Perhaps the victory conditions are in need of an overhaul. If you're still interested, you could order a copy from Andrew Webber - webber@gbm.ocunix.on.ca.
