From: Terry Rooker Subject: Gunslinger Replay A bunch of us got together through consim to play Gunslinger by email. The participants are included as cc: addressees. I moderated this first game. Here is a narrative style replay report. The Marshall was making his report to Judge Parker. The judge was a little upset that 5 wanted killers would no longer face his gallows. Even worse for the Marshall was that fact that the sole survivor of the fight had managed to slip away. So the Marshall tried to explain what he knew to the judge... The gang was celebratin' after their last heist. They waylaid a stage carrying a mining payroll and then hightailed it back to Indian Territory. Even though a couple of kids and an old injunn saw the fight, we still aren't sure what started it. Interestin', El Jefe (which the pronounced Eeffay) almost missed the fight sleeping off a hangover. As near as I can figger, the Border Rider musta said somthing since three of em were gunning for him when the fight started. The all made a big circle around the pile of loot they'd left lying in the corral. We'll never know who made the first move, but suddenly everyone was reaching for their guns. The Gun Artist chose his Colt 45, Innocente readied his scattergun, while everyone else chose their rifles. Well everyone except for the Kid. He took off running towards a gate in the corral, presumably heading for the cover provided by the watering trough. The Border Rider apparently didn't like all the attention he was gettin and started to back up. Attention? Well, Innocente had his scattergun pointed at him, the Drifter was pointin' a Winchester at him, and Border Rider was swinging his Colt towards him. So yeah, I figger he was gettin' a little scared. Since Jefe was takin' a pot shot at the Gun Artist, no one paid eny attention to the Kid runnin' for cover. Then all tarnation broke lose. Noticing that everyone else was gunnin' for the Rider, the Drifter shifted his aim for Innocente. Then in a split second Innocente, Gun Artist, and Jefe fired! Innocente couldn't help but miss the Rider with the scattergun. The Rider was a bloody mess when he went down groaning in pain. There was no mistaking the lifeless fall of the Innocente as the Drifter's .44 shell tore into Innocente. Meanwhile Jefe's pot shot at the Gun Artist missed. Then attention shifted to the Gun Artist. Both the Drifter and Jefe aimed at him. With the Rider down, the Gun Artist kept moving his aim to the Drifter. Still everyone ignored the Kid running for cover. The Kid made it to the trough, but apparently bumped his head as he dove behind it, stunning him briefly. Then 3 shots were heard. Both the Drifter and Jefe took pot shots at the Gun Artist, and missed! Meahwhile, the Gun Artist didn't miss, and there was no mistaking hole in the middle of the Drifter's chest. The Kid was safe behind the trough and was shaking off the bump he took. For some reason the Gun Artist took time to back up slightly increasing the range to Jefe. It didn't do him no good as Jefe's next pot shot hit him. He also fell to the ground, and his cries of pain joined the low moaning that was still comin' from the Rider. With 4 of his enemies already down, the Kid finally cocks his rifle. The Kid only heard the shots. So he lifts himself up to look over the trough. He sees everybody down but Jefe, although the Artist is makin' a terrible racket laying in a big pool of blood. The Kid starts aiming his rifle, not picking out a taget just yet. The Artist is still groggy and takes awhile to drop his Colt and cock his rifle. The it looks like Jefe is making a break for the loot, running straight for it. To keep him from grabbin all the loot, both the Kid and Artist start aiming for him. The Kid takes his time, but the Artist shoots. And his rifle misfires! To their surprise, Jefe doesn't stop for the loot but keeps running. He heads straight for the other gate, running over Rider's body which trips him up a little. The Kid fires at Jefe, just as Jefe turns around to face his opponents. The Kid's bullet hits him in the side, spinning Jefe all the around and dropping him to the ground. The Artist still hurtin' from his wound slowly cocks his rifle. The Artist and the Kid start aiming at each other. The Gun Artist gets his shot off first. It hits the Kid in the side, and the Kid slumps down, but obviously still alive. Jefe just lies there shaking off the shot that hit him. The Kid still manages to get his shot off, but it misses. The that crazy Mexicun starts crawling towards the other corral gate. Now, everyone has been hit and they aren't movin' as quick. The Kid and Artist just shift their weight tryin' to get more comfortable. Then that crazy mexicun really messes everyone up by turning around again! While the Kid and Artist are still groggy from their bleeding, Jefe starts crawling towards them, over the Rider's body...and then tries to turn around again! But he stumbles on the Rider's body. Now I heard that Jefe might have had a little more to drink, but all this wanderin' around in the middle of a gunfight?!? Even though He tried to turn around, Jefe now cocks his weapon! Ignoring Jefe, Artist turns to face the Kid and cocks his rifle. The Kid is still groggy and again just turns trying to figure out what's happenin. Then the kid just does nothing! He just kept staring at his blood in the water trough. He was still staring at the water when Jefe's bullet slammed into his face, snapping his head back, and then he pitched forward into the trough! Then with bullets flying, the Gun Artist stands up. He turns to face his last opponent, while Jefe cocks his rifle and aims at the Gun Artist. Then the Artist lost his nerve, and surrendered. Not that it did him any good as he died from his gunshot anyway. Who knows if he had gotten his last shot off they all might have died! Yes, what's that your honor? Yes, I'm headin out right now to track him down, if Jefe hasn't already headed for Mexico. I just wanted to let you know why I couldn't serve those other warrants you issued.
