The players were Scott Warner and Tim Matsuoka. ----------------- Tim and I played last night. Very interesting game. In a nutshell, he beat the socks off of me. I played the Rebs and first turn advanced in the center and on one side. I lost Robert E. Lee as I advanced in the center (sniper Special). Then Tim opened up in the center with 13!!! dice of artillery and decimated my force. The game was over then, but we played it out. I ended up taking my left side and Tim advanced and took the center. I then advanced on the right in a desparate bid for glory, but my attack was just ground up by his defenses so he was able to advance unopposed into my right, take the position and win the game. Some more new things about the game: Terrain now counts for stacking, and you can have two pieces per position in play. The interesting thing is that the attacker is limited on stacking the same way the defender is. (If you have two pieces of land out, you can only defend with 2 units, and I can only attack with two units). They finally fixed the dice rolls for combat. F1 means roll a 1 F2 means roll a 1 or 2 F3 means roll a 1, 2, or 3 to hit. Much easier to remember and fits better with the morale (Always roll low) Morale has changed: Base number is CV, add +1 for A, 0 for B, -1 for C. Add in plusses or minusses for Generals, Terrain, & Specials. Roll the resulting number or less (1 always succeeds, 6 always fails). New rules for disorganization (involuntary overstacking): When a position is involuntarily overstacked, such as a general kill or a forced retreat due to melee, ALL cards in the position make a morale check. Those that fail the check are returned to your hand (not routed). If the position is still overstacked, ALL cards again make a morale check. This is repeated until the stacking limits are met. This means that it is possible that all cards will fail morale and abandon the position!!!!! The new outflanking rules are great. You get to advance and fire into any engaged flank position (Yours or your opponents). The movement and combat phase are still separate. Combat first then movement. (Just like Shiloh) The feel is still the same. I couldn't believe when I advanced up the middle right into 4 artillery cards. They erradicated me before I even got off a shot.
