Tactical, or operational? Good game or not? I've got this one and I've played around with it a couple of times. It covers about 5 scenario's during the period, Schleswig and Holstien (Denmark), Franco-Prussian War, Austro-Prussian War, and IFRC one or two scenarios of Austria vs Italy. It's operational in scale as one 22x34 map (actually 1 map plus another 1/2 sized map for France) covers all of the scenarios (Maybe 10-15 miles per hex? That's a total guess BTW). It's got lots of leaders, supply, and lots of nice optional scenario variants, e.g. Italy intervening in the Franco-Prussian War, etc. It's even got a combat unit for forces of the Pope! However, I liked Joe Miranda's FPW much better in that it gave more historical results IMHO. In PacRim's FPW scenario the entire battle centers around a 5 or 6 hex line running through Alsace Lorraine which includes mountains and of course a couple of fortresses. Lots of die rolling is involved as you must check morale for each unit involved in the battle. Not really any special rules for siege's as was common for the real FPW. The Denmark War scenario is interesting to play because it involves movement across sea hexsides which requires a die roll of 5 or 6. Also possible intervention of Sweden makes things interesting. Haven't tried the 7 weeks war scenario yet. Just my 0.02 USD. Thanks for reading, - dave
