From: "D. Holte" Subject: We The People add-on cards Hi, I received the 'WE THE PEOPLE' expansion cards in the mail, and thought I'd run through 'em for those interested. BTW, I ordered them from Avalon Hill on Tuesday, and they arrived in the mail on Saturday. Not bad... Anyway, there is one important offical rule change, and it is: WINTER ATTRITION: Single combat units are no longer immune to Winter Attrition. During the Winter Attrition Phase, the owning player must roll attrition for all spaces north of the Winter Attrition Line containing a single combat unit with _no_general_. If the die roll is 1-3, there is no affect; but if the die roll is 4-6, the combat unit is eliminated. I haven't had time to play with this change yet, but it obviously is a very important rule. I'm assuming the Winter Quarters hexes would still be immune even if they meet the above criteria, but an official ruling will be necessary. The new cards include 16 new strategy cards, including one additional 'Minor Campaign' card. They suggest using only five of the fifteen new cards plus the new Minor Campaign card. Either draw five at random, or mutually agree on five expansion cards to shuffle in. The other 15 cards are: Valley Forge Severe Winter Either player. During Winter Attrition, round losses up, not down. Loyalist Guides British. Played w/operations or campaign card. One British army may move through 1 American SP w/o stopping for combat. No American general may be present in the hex. (there are -3- new Loyalist Guides cards) Hessian Infantry Bayonet Charge British. One extra Battle Card. David Bushnell "The Turtle" American. Deny British Naval Movement or Reinforcements into one port for remainder of turn. Daniel Morgan Rifleman American. One extra Battle Card. Lord Sandwich Coastal Raids British. Remove two American PC Markers from Port w/o leader, SP, or Congress. John Paul Jones Shipping Raids American. Remove random strategy card from British hand. (I love these cards...) Fort Mifflin Philadelphia American. Philly gets same benefit as Charleston, SC until British get PC marker in Philly. Light Horse Harry Lee Continental Cavalry American. One extra Battle Card. Admiral Keppel Channel Fleet Redeployment to West Atlantic: British. Played after French Alliance. Remove French Navy piece and replace it during next French Navy Phase. Comte d'Estaing Naval Convoy American. Move one General and up to 5 SP from one American port to another American port (American PC in each, no British pieces present) William Bancroft British Spy British. Randomly remove two Strategy Cards from American player's hand. Admiral Howe Coastal Raids: British. Remove one American PC Marker from Port that does not contain American leader, SP, or Congress. So, that's 8 British cards, 6 American, and 2 usable by both, when you include the new Minor Campaign card. My initial impression is that though interesting, there are no game breakers here. However, they would make good 'equalizers'. For example, if the American player is more experienced, you could throw in the 'Loyalist Guides' cards and give the less experienced British player a slight edge. Note that there are no new 'must use' cards; these can all be discarded at will. -Danny ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Etloh Technologies Dealers in Rare Games Makers of the "Flightdeck" 714-891-6425/373-1115 P.O. The Winter attrition rule is for Attrition situations only. Mark
