The 24th issue of the SPANISH magazine (who asked were to find it in the US ? Contact the editor of PAPER WARS and you will find translated copies with games) do not contain the usual wargame : in effect they decided to stop publishing complete games with pre-cutted counters, but they passed to COMPLEMENTOS, i.e. they publish scenarios and/or variants to existing games, including card, counters, etc. to glue to cardboard and cut. Then they publish complete games (usually with 2 or more battles, each with its own map and die cut counters) that are sold separately. The COMPLEMENTO of this issue is MALLORCA, a scenario for their new release NO PASARAN ! a series dedicated to the Spanish Civil War. I leave detailed commentary to some of our Spanish gamers that I see sometimes online : I only wish to examine what is included : a nice MAP of the MALLORCA island (today an holiday dream for all of us in Europe) in full colours (very nice map), 120 new counters (back printed : of course you need a couple of hours to glue them on cardboard and cut them but it is worth your time, has they include boats, etc.), some players aid, special rules and errata to the standard rules. As a bonus you also have 5 ASL scenarios (tournament rules and scenarios from their 1991 convention) and one FIRST BATTLE scenario. Also included the add for their vol.2 of LA SOMBRA DEL AGUILA and vol.2 of NO PASARAN : quite prolific in SPAIN, isn'it ? The magazine istself includes comments on : - NO PASARAN (not very strange, I think) - BLACK WEDNESDAY (again, as the game is on Spanish DIVISION AZUL in Russia) - FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (the Civil War in ... what ? ... Spain again ?) - BORODINO 1941 - EUROPA UNIVERSALIS A few "lost" pages on Role Playing Some comments on computer games : - STEEL PANTHERS - BATTLEGROUND : ARDENNES - BATTLEGROUND : GETTYSBURG - ADVANCED CIVILISATION on CARD games : - DIXIE - EAGLES - THE LAST CRUSADE - ECHELONS OF FURY - STAR WARS and miniature rules COMMAND AT SEA plus the usual books and magazine comments ANOTHER GOOD MAGAZINE I hope that this kind of short news may be of interest : if not please tell me and I will shut ... but if you have any questions please ask Ciao Pietro ******************************** * Pietro Cremona * "Old hand" Wargamer * Cesena (FO) - ITALY * E-Mail : asterix@linknet.it * Phone : ++ 39 547-335121 ********************************
