Mike Smith - 08:56am Nov 7, 2000 PST (#26 of 28) Can anyone help me out by telling me what the errata for "Spies" was. It appeared in an issue of Moves from (I think) the early 80s, just before SPI got "eaten" by TSR. The errata appeared in an article on the game and concerned handling Russia in the 2-player game - but for the life of me I can't remember more than that. As I remember it the Moves issue also had an article on "Taskforce" and had a largely orange cover .... Man, my head is full of some rubbish ... Bruce Probst - 06:00pm Nov 13, 2000 PST (#28 of 28) ASL FAQ Maintainer ... Melbourne, Australia "I want to decide who lives and who dies." Mike, The Moves issue in question was #58 (not #57, which is the issue with the cover you mention). The article is "Spies Everywhere!", by Steve Fisher, pp.10-11. I don't know that the changes proposed are "official", as such, more "recommended based on experience". Which is probably better, in the long run .... The article is mostly just a short list of suggestions for tactics and enhanced play. The summary of the "Rules Changes/Clarifications" at the end of the article: "When playing with fewer than five players, the rules state that Germany and Italy are to be controlled by the same person. While this is feasible in the two player game, it is not practical in the three or four player games, especially the latter. ... "In the four player game, it is better for one player to control Britain and Russia rather than Germany and Italy. ... In the three player game, combining Britain with Germany and France with Italy prevents any north-south lines of control; units have much greater east-west mobility. "One additional clarification .... The rules state that friendly secrets may be placed anywhere in friendly territory. It is important to note that France has territory in North Africa and the Middle East, Italy has territory in the Balkans and North Africa, and Britain has territory in the Middle East. Secrets may be deployed in these areas. Using the change in rules above and distributing secrets throughout the map should enable players to enjoy Spies to its fullest."
