Norbert Moehring - Mar 19, 2006 1:31 pm (#4231 Total: 4237) www.g-h-s.org Solferino We are playing Solferino once again. Some new question arose: a) A unit on a higher terrain hex with protection terrain level 2 is attacked by a unit with 7 strength points. Are the SPs divided by 2 first and then is the fire column reduced by 1 (i. e. 7:2 = 3,5 rounded to 3 -1 shift => fire at column 2) or vice versa (i. e. 7 -1 shift = 6 : 2 0 => fire at column 3) b) If a attacker in a hex with protection value 2 must make a morale check does he gets a -1 modifier for being in the good terrain or does he not get a modifier since all attacker are automatically in level 1. c) Is is correct that there is no "charge movement" (i.e. the charging cavalry may only move 3 MPs in the movement phase and must then end adjacent the charged enemy unit)? d) What terrain is prohibited for charging cavalry? I found no note on the terrain chart. e) It is correct that supporting artillery must have a LOS to the attacker but only the defending unit has to be in range? lucolivier - Mar 20, 2006 1:57 pm (#4237 Total: 4237) Grand Maitre de l'Academie du Wargame Hello, Thanks for the AAR and the nice feedback... Now the answers : a) A unit on a higher terrain hex with protection terrain level 2 is attacked by a unit with 7 strength points. Are the SPs divided by 2 first and then is the fire column reduced by 1 (i. e. 7:2 = 3,5 rounded to 3 -1 shift => fire at column 2) or vice versa (i. e. 7 -1 shift = 6 : 2 0 => fire at column 3) First divided and then column shifts. b) If a attacker in a hex with protection value 2 must make a morale check does he gets a -1 modifier for being in the good terrain or does he not get a modifier since all attacker are automatically in level 1. He gets the bonus. c) Is is correct that there is no "charge movement" (i.e. the charging cavalry may only move 3 MPs in the movement phase and must then end adjacent the charged enemy unit)? The only way to attack for cavalry is charging means here move only 3 MPs. d) What terrain is prohibited for charging cavalry? I found no note on the terrain chart. You are right, the only forbidden terrain is the steep slope for everybody. The rule will be perhaps used for next games... e) It is correct that supporting artillery must have a LOS to the attacker but only the defending unit has to be in range? Yes, but only one support per enemy activation. I hope it's clear.
