Gene -------------- >QUES : Scn 9 >Greetings, >Am having a second round of this game FtF soon and wanted to ask a >couple of questions that arose in our first game. >Replacements (rule 22) >Can replacement steps be accumulated? YES, replacement steps can be accumulated. >Bombardment of Hidden Units (rule 9.1) >I have in the past played that hidden units cannot be attacked during >bombardment combat. NO >Victory Conditions for Scenario 9 >This scenario states that if no automatic victory occurs then victory >points determine the winner. >However victory points are listed only for the NVA player. It would >appear the that VP list for the US/ARVN player were omitted. Based on >similar scenarios it would suggest that the victory conitions should >include US/ARVN Destruction of units: 1pt per VC Step 2 pts per NVA Step 5 >pts per NVA HQ >Territorial 1 pt per hex per turn that any hexes of the Chu Pong are >occupied >Can anyone confirm that the VP are missing for this scenario and if so >that the above are the correct VP? Sorry, Chris, we did omit those in the Scenario 9 VP area. You have them right, though - they are identical to the Scenario 8 VPs, including the 1 pt per hex per turn for the Chu Pong. Deployment of HQ's after observation >The rules on Revealing Hidden Units (15.2) state that NVA HQ's and >Hospital cannot be revealed by observation by helicopter (if stacked >with other units). >So what happens when an HQ that is stacked with a combat unit is >observed? I assume the combat units are placed on the map, and the >hidden unit marker is taken by the US player. But does the HQ then get >kept off the map until its presence is revealed in some other manner? >Or was there some other intention with the rules? OK, the idea here is that the HQ/Hospital are well camoflauged (sometimes partially underground, historically) and screened by other units. So aerial observation is ineffective against these units WHEN THEY ARE IN THE SAME HEX as other combat units. Functionally, what you do is leave the HQ/Hospital units on the NVA Hidden Unit track when an aerial observation is successful against a hex containing these units stacked with other combat units. If that hex is the target of a subsequent patrol or declared attack during that turn, then the HQ/Hospital is revealed and placed on the game map. Otherwise, it remains on the NVA Hidden unit track and receives a new Hidden Unit marker during the next Concealment Phase. >Thanking you in advance You're most welcome. Glad you're having fun. Gene
