Douglas Jorenby - 06:33am Nov 19, 2001 PST (#43 of 43) Roger, I sent them an email to contact@tilsit.fr. The reply was both prompt and helpful. In the hope it might be helpful to others, I'll post the Q&A section: Here are the answers to your questions : In the set-up of the game, when drawing cities, does each player select which cities he or she wants? Or are they drawn blindly (such as from a cup), so that the player does not know which city he or she is drawing? They are drawn blindly from a cup. When moving samurai along a blue sea link, does paying 1 koku allow the player to move samurai any distance along continuous sea links? If one moves by sea to a territory containing a castle of one's color, is the sea movement also free? Yes, you may move any distance along continuous sea links, and it will cost you only 1 Koku, or even none if you go in a teritory in which there is castle of yours. A game turn is considered to be 10 years, so it is not a problem to sail far. If more than one player is tied for highest total honor points, is it the case that no one is Shogun that turn? Or is the tie broken by number of Clan Points? The tie breaker is : first the number of Clan Points, second the number of troups on the board, then the number of Koku. In the Draw Phase (12.1), all players may refill their hand to 5 cards. With sufficient Clan Points, the rules indicate players may draw 1 or 2 additional cards. Does this mean that the maximum hand size also increases? That is, if a player already has 5 cards, but controls 6 CP of cities, may he or she draw 2 additional cards regardless of the number of cards in hand? Yes. There is no real limit of cards in hand : you may have 7 cards at the Draw Phase, plus two cards whennever you win a combat, so on a game turn, you may have a lot of cards. But at the end of the Draw Phase, you must have between 5 and 7 cards at most, depending on how much cities you control.
