KANEV ERRATA OOOOOPS, or, you must understand this game was produced in Northern California ....... MAPS and TABLES There should be lakes between hexes 0518-0618, and 0617-0718, ignore the swamp in hex 2019, ignore the village symbols in hexes 0922, 1021, 0301. Owners of Korsun Pocket will notice some discrepancies between the maps - part of this is accounted for by the different season - the rough terrain in the loop abstracts a lot of streams that were not very high in September but were serious obstacles in January. The rough, roads, and bridges are more accurate on the Kanev map. The marshy hexside terrain type does not need to be adjacent to a minor river or stream, despite what the terrain key shows. The indication in the Terrain Effects Chart that armored units can retreat through swamps, provided partisans are present, is in error (you guessed?). The example under Air Drop Scatter and Survival Table should read: "...alas for the paratroopers, there is two added to the die ... producing a 7 which produces a Drop Completed Unit Loss result." RULES 6.0 Units cannot trace Supply lines through terrain they cannot move through. 11.7 (last line) 'KG" or "BG" counter. 15.0 Which proves, once again, someone else should proofread what you type ... appears we dropped a page here ... The Soviet player has an airborne force consisting of three airborne brigades (1st, 3rd, & 5th Gds) and two airlanding brigades (2nd and 4th). The former each have three airborne battalions, and the latter three airlanding battalions and an artillery battalion (heavy mortar). In addition there are three Drop Zone markers. These units may be dropped on hexes behind German lines during any daylight turn in which the Soviet player has air superiority. The Soviet player secretly writes down which hexes he plans to drop which units on during the Air Operations Segment, before the German player moves his units. During the Soviet player turn, after all ground units have moved, the drop is carried out. Airborne units may not move (except as a result of combat) nor do they have Z0Cs during the turn in which they drop and in the subsequent enemy turn. That pretty much covers 15.0 and 15.1. 15.2 the fourth line should read: "...player turn in which the Soviet player..." 20.0 Insert after second sentence: Exception - Soviet Rifle divisions. These units should be placed in a mug or something and drawn randomly by the Soviet player, alternately they can be secretly drawn by the Soviet player who then brings them into play in the order drawn. (We are unable so far to turn up adequate data on the units of the 27th and 47th Soviet Armies to give a complete picture of exactly which units arrived where and when.) OPTIONAL ODDS AND ENDS: The explanation of what happens if a DZ suffers a "Unit Loss-Drop Com- pleted" result may be found just above the Air Drop Scatter Diagram on the map sheet. HISTORICAL NOTES On September 23 there were actually 8, not 6, Li-2s available. The Li-2 was a Soviet-produced model of the C-47 (DC-3). COMBAT RESULTS TABLE In all instances, AE should be read as AL. COMPONENTS One rules book, one 200 counter sheet, one map, one die, one box, one errata sheet (so far), Finally, the fellow on the cover is not John Wayne, instead it is someone who actually participated in WWII, unlike the Duke.
