Karm Kerwell - Feb 10, 2004 8:43 am (#96 Total: 98) I’ve mounted the counters and started Cocherel. Beautiful counters. I like the variety of icons. I like the dude with the morning star. I didn’t see a place to post Epee questions so I’ll do so here: Questions: 1) At Cocherel can Du Guesclin’s army change facing in the first turn? It doesn’t need to move toward the river, right? If Du Guesclin or one of his leaders activates first (on the first turn) can they immediately about face? 2) Melee Charts. One of the possible mods is in regards to unit quality. The chart states: +1/-1. If a 6 quality unit attacks a 3 quality unit does the 6 quality unit get a +1 bonus or a +3? 3) Phase B. Just to clarify, archers that fire in Phase B cannot move. They’re done unless attacked (defense fire) or they fire offensively when they are activated. Is this right? Cocherel has one archer unit so I haven’t really been able to see the effects or how this rule really comes into play. Curious they cannot fire in this phase if adjacent. I look forward to seeing how this will work with a heavy archer battle. 4) Can charging units change facing during charge? Example, a mounted knight is 2 hexes away from a target but the target is not in its frontal hex. Can the knight move one hex forward, change facing, and move its final hex to close with target? 5) What is the back of the leader counters for? Can leaders get fatigued? 6) I assume routing units can not be activated. Leave them alone until the rally phase? Thanks. So far I’ve been enjoying the game. I can’t get used to the units facing hex sides vs. hex spines. Why is that?.... But that’s fine. It’s cool. It seems to work well. A Spaniard at Dreux 1562 A Couple of Answers Karm: 5) The back side of a leader is what you use when the guy on the front is killed. 7.6 second bullet point. The "replacement" leaders are used when the original guy is captured. 6) Rout - 12.2 fourth bullet point - "A unit in rout may not attack and may only move in a rally phase". OK, so when are we going to play this? It doesn’t need to move toward the river, right? If Du Guesclin or one of his leaders activates first (on the first turn) can they immediately about face? Yes it is possible. By the way it is what he has really done. 2) Melee Charts. One of the possible mods is in regards to unit quality. The chart states: +1/-1. If a 6 quality unit attacks a 3 quality unit does the 6 quality unit get a +1 bonus or a +3? It is +1. For quality the maximum bonus is +1. You get it as soon as you have one unit of better quality than the defender 3) Phase B. This activation of B Phase is a kind of bonus fire allowed ony to archer (and not to Ab). 4) Can charging units change facing during charge? Example, a mounted knight is 2 hexes away from a target but the target is not in its frontal hex. Can the knight move one hex forward, change facing, and move its final hex to close with target? NO a charging unit can only charge straight forward trough the central frontal hex. Change facing is not allowed during the charge. The other ones has been answered by Steve.
