From: "Fred Thomas" Subject: Drive on Paris Q&A from Consimworld On Drive on Paris - 1.) First, off the wall probably, I could have sworn I read somewhere in the rules that units can't move voluntarily out of supply. Maybe it was another game, maybe delusions, whatever help me stop searching. May units voluntaily move OOS? * Sure, just be willing to pay the attritional price if it comes to that. 2.) May cav units retreat before an overrun (if the overruning units are not cav)? * I'd allow them to. 3.) May Allied units attack across a border they are not allowed to cross, but not advance (like the doctrine restrictions)? * Depends on which border...the FDL, yes, national borders (like Switzerland) no. 4.) May an HQ regroup a unit from the turn record track and then in turn build it up to full strength in the same turn (assuming the HQ has a regroup rating of more than one)? * No, because the unit formerly known as dead did not start the phase stacked with the HQ. 5.) Do friendly units negate the movement cost of entering an EZOC for supply trace purposes (you know, the 10 MP limit allowed)? * Yes. 6.) Thought I read this here - does the river column shift for attacking across a minor river apply even if not all the units are attacking across the river? * Right. The word from Dean - Adam Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 11:50:15 +0000 Subject: Re: Drive on Paris Q's From: "The Gamers, Inc" Please post these there for others who might be wondering...thanks! 1.Can the Siege Guns move into rail hexes that have not been "converted" to friendly by an infantry division? This is critical to the Germans firing at Liege on Turn 2 or not. * Nope, they must be "converted". 2. Or, does the rail "conversion" (Rule 1.2d) only affect supply trace? * Trace, rail movement (the trains) and the Seige guns. 3. Do the Emmich Assault units count as an infantry divisions for converting rail hexes? *Nope, they are not divisions. Dean Emmerich loses the first step in combat. It is correct that the strongest unit must loose the second step loss? No, the second loss is the player's choice. Emmerich takes the place of the strongest until all those groups are dead.
