Stephen Crane - Apr 29, 2005 9:39 pm (#620 Total: 623) "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation" Herman Melville (obviously did not play boardgames) I just got Chosin and I have some rules questions. Regarding returning UN wounded, when is says lowest step value that means it returns as a remnant in the field hospital space? With UN replacements, what does it mean by an RP may be accumulated by using a remnant? Where can i place the remnant that i got from the RP? Is an eliminated unit really eliminated? By that i mean i can't gradually bring a unit back to full strength through RP but can only use RP on reduced units that are already on the map? Incidently, my Dad was at Koto-Ri with the first marine regiment. We have also read the book that was the inspiration for the game. I think i'll be able to convince him to give the game a go. Jeffry Tibbetts - May 1, 2005 6:47 pm (#622 Total: 623) History is not merely what happened: it is what happened in the context of what might have happened — H R Trevor-Roper Steve: QUESTION - Regarding returning UN wounded, when is says lowest step value that means it returns as a remnant in the field hospital space? ANSWER - Yes. A UN 2-step unit would return as its lowest step, but a UN 3-step unit would return as a remnant QUESTION - With UN replacements, what does it mean by an RP may be accumulated by using a remnant? ANSWER - since remanants can be distributed to other units, a player can 'store' replacements as remnanats in order to avoid losing them until the unit that he wishes to receive the replacements can be eligible (like, it is cut off now, but going to break out soon). QUESTION - Where can i place the remnant that i got from the RP? ANSWER: Good Question. Decision: at the Hagaru-Ri airfield, where the c-47 left it. QUESTION - Is an eliminated unit really eliminated? By that i mean i can't gradually bring a unit back to full strength through RP but can only use RP on reduced units that are already on the map? ANSWER: No, you can revive elimininated units -- 20.1 -- but see also, 20.0 for the restriction that only infantry-type units can be rebuild at all and 4.21 and 14.3.d for restrictions on replacing certain units. "Incidently, my Dad was at Koto-Ri with the first marine regiment." All of us salute that Marine! Jeffry Tibbetts
