Steve Carey - 07:17pm Nov 17, 2001 PST (#1544 of 1547) Humpty Dumpty was pushed JdG Campaign observations and questions: Entrenchments (6.2) states that the defender has his PF multiplied by 1.5 (round down), while the Combat Table indicates shifts of A -2L and D +1R. The rules don't prohibit it, but I assume Cavalry cannot entrench. Does a unit/stack have to declare it's intent to Forced March (5.4) at the start of it's move, or can use move points and then declare Forced March? Can a unit lose it's last PF via a Straggler roll (also 5.4), and if so, is the unit eliminated or does it stay on the map with 0 PF (so that it can recover the Straggler next turn)? If the defender opts to fight in the open while in a Fortress space (8.8), is the terrain considered Clear or Defensive for the combat? When Average Cohesion (8.5) is being calculated, are fractions rounded or retained? The word "enemy" in (6.5.1) Interception appears misplaced; it should be a "friendly" General gets a -1drm if no LdC, and a -2drm if he does have a valid LdC. Can a non-phasing player Intercept (6.5.1) into a box that is already enemy occuped by a non-moving force? For example, I have troops moving from Ulm to Gmund, which is already occupied by some of my other troops - if my opponent is in Hall, can he attempt interception of the moving force in Gmund? Note that all of the above situations occurred during play. Upon reflection, I'd really like to try JdG Campaign again - more of a game of manuever, positioning, and bluffing than a combat simulator. Steve Carey - 07:01am Nov 18, 2001 PST (#1545 of 1547) Humpty Dumpty was pushed Please disregard the Average Cohesion question - it's answered in 1.2.1 (always round down). Steve, JdG Campaign observations and questions: Entrenchments (6.2) states that the defender has his PF multiplied by 1.5 (round down), while the Combat Table indicates shifts of A -2L and D +1R. Cancel the 1.5 multiplication. Follow the tables. The rules don't prohibit it, but I assume Cavalry cannot entrench. Yes, I will add it to Clarifications Does a unit/stack have to declare it's intent to Forced March (5.4) at the start of it's move, or can use move points and then declare Forced March? It should be declared at the start of it's move. Can a unit lose it's last PF via a Straggler roll (also 5.4), and if so, is the unit eliminated or does it stay on the map with 0 PF (so that it can recover the Straggler next turn)? Yes, why not, good idea If the defender opts to fight in the open while in a Fortress space (8.8), is the terrain considered Clear or Defensive for the combat? Defensive The word "enemy" in (6.5.1) Interception appears misplaced; it should be a "friendly" General gets a -1drm if no LdC, and a -2drm if he does have a valid LdC. This word is not in the French Version? Can a non-phasing player Intercept (6.5.1) into a box that is already enemy occuped by a non-moving force? For example, I have troops moving from Ulm to Gmund, which is already occupied by some of my other troops - if my opponent is in Hall, can he attempt interception of the moving force in Gmund? Yes Note that all of the above situations occurred during play. Good Upon reflection, I'd really like to try JdG Campaign again - more of a game of manuever, positioning, and bluffing than a combat simulator. " This is answered in the rules in 8.8. "When Average Cohesion (8.5) is being calculated, are fractions rounded or retained?" See 1.2.1 (from memory) "The word "enemy" in (6.5.1) Interception appears misplaced; it should be a "friendly" General gets a -1drm if no LdC, and a -2drm if he does have a valid LdC." It is extraneous. I'll kill it in the next update.
