From: "William Sariego" Subject: Re: Guess and submission Errata and Clarifications for GDW's BLOOD & THUNDER Dated 23 April 1993 Submitted by William Sariego RULES Page 7: Under minimum movement, add the phrase "static mobility catagory units" to the list of exceptions to the minimum movement rule. Optional- Paratroops: In addition to the deviation specified in the paratroop drop rule, paratroops deviate one or two hexes in the direction of the wind (determined the same as for smoke). Paratroops do not deviate during light or no wind, deviate 1 hex during moderate wind, and deviate 2 hexes during strong winds. SCENARIOS Page 21, Scenarios, Terrain Subheading: Delete the first sentance and substitute the following; "Because some of the terrain symbols on the maps may represent different types of terrain from scenario to scenario, this section explains which symbols correspond to which types of terrain." Scenario 8, The Last Charge: In the victory conditions, change the phrase "all three hexes of" to read "all hexes off". Scenario 10, Desperate Defense: This scenario calls for a Mardar II to be assigned to II/64th Panzergrenadier Regiment, with 10 HE salvoes. This should be a Mardar II without salvoes. Scenario 16, Hill 247: This scenario calls for 2x[c]StuG III Longs. This should be 1x[c]StuG III Long and 1xStuG III Long. Scenario 21, Kanev: This scenario calls for 1x(c)HT. This should be 1x(c)Cmndr riding in 1xHT. The scenario also calls 2xHyMtrs in each battalion, this should be 2xMdMtrs in each battalion. Scenario 22, Hill 239: This scenario calls for 2x[c]PzrVs. This should read 1x[c]PzV and 1XPzV. The Soviet Mixed battle group should substitute 4xT-34/41s for the 4xT-34/42-43s called for. Scenario 23, Breakthrough: This scenario calls fo two tank regimnets (42nd Guards and 44th Tank) with 8xT-34/42-43s. The 42nd guards regiment should have 8xT-34/85s instead. Scenario 24, When Giants Fought: This scenario calls for 6xM3A1 scout cars. This should read 1xM3A1 scout car, 1xLtTruck, and 2xMdTrucks. COUNTERS Counter Sheet 2: Counter 4560 and 4585 (representing T-34/85 and T-60 tanks, respectively) have their movement factors reversed out in white rather in black, This is not indicative of anything special about these two units. Counter 4586 has a command special function code on the back, and should not. Counter 4590 should have a command special function code on the back, and does not. The brown SU-76 (counter 5020) should have a restricted movement allowance. The brown HT/Md Mtrs (counters 5030 and 5031) should not have a restricted allowance on their backs. Since vehicles with restricted movement allowances and both a direct and indirect fire value are only restricted with respect to their indirect fire value, a halftrack-mounted mortar cammot fire indirect when it moves but it can fire its machinegun. The same should be true when it is damaged (although the machinegun would fire at half value). Counter Sheet 4: The GWII (counter 5020) should have a restricted movement allowance. One green halftrack (counter 9219) should not have a command special function code. The Marder III (counter 5060) should not have an indirect fire value. Players should note that this counter represents the version of the Marder III equipped with the Soviet 76mm division gun rather than the 76mm AT gun. The green HT/Md Mortar (counter 5030) should not have a restricted movement allowance (see note on Soviet HT/md mortars). MAPS Map 8 is missing a road connection leading into hex 0205.. Roads from other maps leading into this portion of map 8 are considered to end at the map's edge. CLARIFICATIONS Commomly Asked Questions Q: Can direct fire artillery carry out fire missions? A: No. Only indirect fire artillery carries out fire missions. Q: If a line of fire runs along the edge of two hexes, one partially filled with blocking terrain and one without, is it blocked? A: No. However, if an LOF passes along the hex edge between two hexes partly or completely filled with blocking terrain, it is blocked. Q: Where does the engineer unit go when helping another unit into prohibited terrain? In the hex with the prohibited terrain or the hex with the unit about to enter? A: An engineer unit assisting another unit into prohibited terrain must begin the turn in the prohibited terrain hex. The unit to be assisted must begin adjacent to the prohibited terrain hex. Q: When are dummy counters placed and how are they concealed? Can they be used in "build your own" scenarios and if so what is their point cost? A: Dummy counters are placed at the beginning of the scenario, like any other counter, and (obviously) are used in conjunction with the Concealed markers provided ( see the Concealment rule, on page 8). Dummy counters can be used in creating scenarios, and cost 1 point each. Q: How do passengers effect stacking? A: Vehicle passengers inside vehicles, and tank riders on vehicles do not count towards stacking until they dismount. Q: What exactly is an artillery marker? A: Artillery markers are the little gunsight counters illustrated on page 12. Q: Can a command unit issue orders the same turn as it moves or fires? A: Yes. Command, staff, and self-ordering units may move and/or fire in the same turn they issue orders, unless otherwise restricted by the rules. **The Errata sheet referenced thanked the following individuals: Eric Walters, Kris Miller, Matt Irsik, Mark L.
