Alan, Here is the ‘Addenda' to Battle Over Britain published in Fire and Movement Nr.42, Winter 1984. I scanned it in in response to a query on Consimworld, and figured it should be up on Web Grognards. As always, thanks for the great resource. Mike %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Battle Over Britain ADDENDA As of April, 1984 Game Map Two airfield names are missing from the map. They are Rochford in slice 2 of Hex 609 and Lee-on-Solent in Slice 2 of Hex 409. Hex 208 contains six radar points. Radar Station 6 (Drytree) should project 1 radar point into the hex. Planning Map The coastlines of France and Great Britain disappeared from the planning map during production. If you are artistically inclined, draw the coastlines in, based on the game map. This will increase the map's reference value. Counters A second brownish color was mistaken added to the backs of some British target markers and to the backs and fronts of some British squadrons during production. Although all British squadrons should be one color, the second color does not harm play. However, all target marker backs should be one color, and the second color does harm play by helping the German Player to identify target types. My only suggestion is to make your own matching set of target markers, all one color on the back. Airfield Display The example in How to Use the Airfield Display should state that Northolt airfield has a capacity of three squadrons, not four. Rules of Play 4.4. (addition) The British Player must keep at least one squadron assigned to each sector airfield throughout the game. If a sector airfield is empty when squadrons are being returned to the sector following a raid, at least one squadron must be placed in the sector airfield. 6.31. (correction) The target hex in the range example should be Hex 608, not Hex 609. 6.61. (correction) The German airbases incorrectly named "G" and "K" are actually Airbases 513 and 713, respectively. 8.1, Example 2. (correction) German Airbase 114 should read 1114. 9.2. (correction) The Destruction Point Total should read the Detection Point Total. 13.42. (correction) Hex 77 should read Hex 609. 13.5. (clarification) The German Player does receive Victory Points for bombing a closed British airfield. 15.0, Procedure. (clarification) Ignore the mention of die roll modifiers applied to the Strategic Weather Table. Instead, use the column of the table corresponding to the current Game-Turn. 16.1. (clarification) The activity level limits imposed by the Weather State apply to all the night raids during that Game-Turn. 16.2, last paragraph. (correction) The last sentence should read, "The number of steps in each bombarding unit is multiplied by the unit's Bombardment Rating and by the unit's Activity Level to determine the Bombardment Strength of the unit." 24.2. (clarification) A slice without at least one target is not a target slice and no German unit may be assigned to such a slice. British squadrons can be placed in a non-target slice. 28.51. (clarification) A bomber unit that is unescorted at a higher altitude than an attacking British squadron does not receive the altitude "+1" combat bonus. 28.7. (clarification) A combined Me 109/Me110 unit uses the Me 110 column and row of the Interception Table. 32.0. (clarification) The Weather Table is used in every turn of the Advanced Game, including Game-Turn 1. 44.6. (correction) Hurricane Squadron Ill should have five steps on August 8th, not seven. -John H. Butterfield Note: TSR, Inc. has not authorized these addenda.
